Tucson cat fundraiser: Operating a no-kill cat rescue is no laughing matter but at this fun fundraiser the Arizona Daily Star‘s David Fitzsimmons will supply comedy and his superb caricature drawings. A silent auction will include a large Diana Madaras canvas print and signed copies of “Julia’s Cats”, the delightful book about Julia Child and her love of cats. The fundraiser will also feature raffle prizes and stunning hand-crafted, cat-themed jewelry. All this plus jazz and oldies music by the Tucson band, “The Decades.”
Laughs at La Cocina
201 N. Court Avenue in the Old Town Artisans Courtyard (best kept secret for downtown outdoor dining)
PAWSitively Cats houses more than 300 rescued felines including both adoptable and special needs cats. You won’t want to miss this event on a perfect autumn evening. Enjoy a delicious dinner (great food served here) at La Cocina and 10% of your bill will be donated to these cats.
In addition to routine veterinary care, several of the kitties at PAWSitively Cats are in need of costly dental treatments. To raise funds for dental care, a special raffle of a beautifully framed 34-inch X 38-inch poster by American artist Will Barnet is underway. This poster was created in 1979 for the ASPCA, and is based on Barnet’s painting “Polly, Minou, and Eon.” The poster is in pristine condition with vivid colors, and its estimated value is $900. Raffle tickets are $20 each or six for $100. The drawing will be held at the La Cocina fundraiser, but the winner need not be present.
Donations of canned cat food (pate style preferred), Costco’s Kirkland brand dry cat food, and scoop-able litter will be accepted at this fundraiser. PAWSitively Cats is a 501(C)3 and donations are tax deductible. For more info please email savecats@PAWSitivelyCats.org or call (520) 289-2747.
