Best of happy, funny dog blogs – 2011
Monday, December 26th, 2011Here are Tucson Tails’ 6 favorite funny and happy dog blogs in alpha order. Check them out. Enjoy!
Cult of the Greyhound
Tucson photographer, self defense teacher, and greyhound adopter writes this blog dedicated to greyhounds. Being a professional photographer – the photos are lush capturing every greyt nuanced detail about the breed I love. No apologies here. Suzanne also writes about her dogs in only the way us devoted greyhound lovers can.
Doggie Stylish
This gal (Karen) sells doggie stuff like collars and leashes and DIY kits. But she also has one cool blog with almost a post a day whether it be a photograph, a video, story, opinion, etc. Not all her posts are happy or funny, some are downright serious and she tackles difficult subject matter with aplomb. She also has 3.968 people liking Doggie Stylish on Facebook. Wow! I am greenies with envy.
Ironicus Maximus
This guy (Max?) makes fun of the greyhound racing industry in his Friday Hound Blogging category. Usually, there is nothing funny about dog racing but somehow he is able to make it so with a twist of his tongue. Not only do I find myself chuckling but LOL to a great extent. For starters, he calls the kennel operators “overlords.”
For instance: “Now, frequent reader(s) of this blog know that happiness is the drape covering the window of despair…er…we mean know that on FHB days we generally take the overlords to task for purporting to have souls while acting in ways that would make them unwelcome in a neighborhood of scorpions.”
That’s Max Irony for you. He doesn’t limit his prose to dog racing. You can also be offended or entertained by his writing about religion, politics, banking, and any number of controversial topics. Focusing on the overlords seems to be a bi-partisan issue though.
Life with Dogs
This site claims to be the world leader in dog news & entertainment. With more than 89,000 likes on Facebook, who am I to disagree? His photos are awesome often super imposing dog faces into familiar surroundings, very clever. He blogs on a variety of topics from serious to deliriously hilarious. He lives with three dogs and one cat. One of his dogs is a greyhound – Nigel Buggers. Roo Who!
Tales and Tails
I love this blog. It makes me laugh and cry, however I laugh more than I cry which is why it’s in the happy category. It’s the tale of a Heartland family comprised of two greyhounds (used to be 3 but Lilac died) and 2 German Shepherds (the puppy is new). So far all the dogs (Bunny, Blueberry, and Morgan blog (Kuster the puppy does not yet) as well as the Mrs. The Mr. is silent. Their tales are sweet, laughable, and bittersweet. The dogs go everywhere – schools, hospitals, nursing homes, vacations, dog parks, and hiking. Lush photos accompany every blog post and these dogs have more clothes and accessories than I do. Pssst…Bunny’s favorite color is pink.
WillMyDogHateMe
Fellow Tucsonan and friend (and foodie) Edie Jarolim writes this highly entertaining and informative blog which started as way to boost the sales of her book, Am I Boring My Dog? The blog is aimed at guilt-free dog ownership and has a light-hearted tone with one of the features spay & neuter videos that don’t make you kill yourself. Edie adores her dog, Frankie (a Yorkie mix) and he inspires her to keep on writing. We give this a four-paws up!
Honorable mention
Drama Queen
My dear departed second greyhound Lily aka Drama Queen wrote this blog before she went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2010. She is known far and wide for chewing stuff particularly shoes/purses/income tax receipts, loving bling, and talking back when she was referred to the as the Drama Queen. She did not disappoint.
(The photo is of Drama Queen taken by Diana Hansen at the DQ’s birthday party. Not only did she like bling but knew how to accessorize as well.)
