from the press release
Pit n’ Proud, a pit bull education and advocacy organization, is hosting a one‐night only Tucson screening of the documentary film Beyond the Mython Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at The Screening Room, 127 E. Congress.
The screening is sponsored by JP and Jenny DeVore of JP’s Independent BMW Service, and all proceeds will benefit Adopt‐a‐Bull, a bully breed and mastiff rescue organization.
Pit n’ Proud would like to extend an open invitation to people on both sides of the “pit bull” debate to come view this film – which has been screening across the U.S. to rave reviews and high praise – and would like to especially encourage media and journalism professionals to attend. Pit n’ Proud will reserve front row seats and cover the costs of tickets for any such professional that RSVPs in advance.
Beyond the Myth aims to educate the public about the discrimination unfairly placed on pit bull‐type dogs, and underscores the ineffectiveness and harmful impact of breed specific laws. The film explores the contributing factors behind the public’s generalized fear of pit bull‐type dogs and examines the conflict existing between advocates and opponents of breed‐discriminatory laws.
Kara Holmquist, Director of Advocacy for the Massachusetts SPCA has said, “Beyond the Myth is the first hard hitting, emotionally charged documentary to expose the truth about pit bull‐type dogs: dogs as maligned as they are misunderstood.”
After the film, there will be a prize drawing for some amazing items, and an opportunity to meet and discuss the film with board members and coordinators of Adopt‐a‐Bull and Pit n’ Proud. There will be informational handouts and shirts and merchandise available for sale.
General admission $10. For tickets and more info, go to to the website, or e‐mail firstname.lastname@example.org
