Let’s win Tucson!

from the press release

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona takes on the 2012 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge!

TUCSON- With community support, the Humane Society of Southern Arizona made it through the voting round and into the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge.

As one of 50 competing shelters, the real work begins now, and the HSSA is calling on the community once again to help win the whole thing and show that Tucson can compete with the likes of past winners, including Austin.

In order to win the $100,000 top prize, the staff at the HSSA is planning some incredible events and adoption specials. The goal, for the months of August, September and October is to BREAK RECORDS for the number of lives saved – reuniting or finding forever homes for 3,000 dogs and cats by Oct. 31.

“The ASPCA challenge is a perfect way for the Humane Society and community to work together for a common goal that ultimately gets animals adopted to their forever homes,” says Samantha Esquivel, spokeswoman.

To kick off the second phase of this challenge in style, the shelter will be hosting a Late Night event on Friday, Aug. 3, at the main shelter. The adoption lobby will be open until 9 p.m., free eegee’s from 4 to 8 p.m., merchandise from PAWSH stores and free adoptions of adult cats and mixed-breed dogs over 25 pounds.

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is located at 3450 N. Kelvin Blvd.  ● Tucson, AZ 85716 ● (520) 327-6088

Free adoptions will continue for the entire month of August!

Other special events planned during the three-month Challenge include the Royal Buick Dog Days of Summer adoption event Aug. 18; the Furbaby Fiesta three-day event Sept. 28-30 at the main shelter; and an adoption event at the HabiStore on Oct. 27. More detailed information will be available on these events as it becomes available.

The Challenge begins Aug. 1. Find your new best friend at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and help win $100,000 to help homeless animals in the Tucson community.

KZ: Help spread the word!  $100,000 would be a huge boost to saving more cats and dogs here in Tucson. Go Tucson!
