12 y.o. Buddy has a forever home

For the month of January, Beading Divas to the Rescue is proud to be selling bracelets for Rescue a Golden of Arizona.

Here is one of their touching stories. This is what RESCUE groups do — they rescue all dogs not just the easy ones.

Buddy was found in a desolate area near A Mountain barely alive, all skin and bone, crawling in the dirt. He was so weak and emaciated that he couldn’t get up or walk.  It was obvious that he had been on his own in the desert for a long time.  Instead of turning him in to animal control where he would surely have been euthanized, the family that found him took him home to their ranch in Marana.  They spent hours bathing and brushing the mats out of his fur, and 2 days picking over 200 ticks from what was left of his body.  They lovingly nursed him back to health and named him Buddy.  They were going to keep him, but not being a horse-savvy dog, one of the horses kicked him in the head.  The family didn’t want him to be hurt any more, so they called Rescue A Golden of Arizona.

We immediately picked up this poor boy and took him directly to the vet.  His age was estimated at about 12 years old.  The list of ailments that needed immediate treatment is too long for this article.  He also needed to be neutered, microchipped, tested for Valley Fever, and vaccinated.  Now, one might ask, who would adopt a dog this old with a long list of ailments that needed treatment?  Well, it happens more often than you would think.  One of our Vet Team members, Sue, took him home to foster until a permanent home could be found.  Did I mention that Sue & Joseph have a reputation for being Foster Failures (term of endearment)?  They have a passion for underdogs, thus the seven other dogs in their home.  Buddy was quickly assimilated into the pack and was adopted into what is now called, “The Eight Is Enough Pack.” With lots of love and nurturing, proper nutrition, a little training, and canine companionship, Buddy got his miracle and a second chance at life.  He is one happy boy who is now an Ambassadog for our rescue at our local Meet & Greets.  This is why we do what we do.  This one’s for you, Buddy Boy…
