older dogs make sweet companions

Sweet sweet Charlotte

Charlotte is a very sweet 8 year old Shepherd mix. She loves to run in the yard and will play by herself. She is good with other dogs but is particular and needs a thorough introduction. She is good on a leash and likes to ride in the car.

Charlotte was adopted from FAIR as a pup and was recently dumped at PACC. Thank you to FAIR for taking her in and giving her another chance at a beautiful life.

For more information please contact FAIR at 664-5239.

What a sweet face…

Reagan - loving senior seeks forever companion

Reagan - loving senior seeks forever companion

Reagan is a 9 year old Lab mix, a wonderful senior fellow looking for a loving home who will appreciate a loyal older dog.  He loves to be loved, brushed, go on walks and car rides, likes to be near his people, okay with kids and small dogs, cats unsure. He eats well and drinks plenty of water and doesn’t beg for food. Reagan loves hugs and gives kisses too, likes stuffed toys, likes to play with water  from the hose and tug a war with a small dog, and enjoys stuffed toys.

Months ago I (Karyn Zoldan) begged someone to foster Reagan as he was on death row at PACC after his owner died. A very nice person Tina R. has patiently fostered Reagan until he is able to find a forever home.

What's not to like?

Gage – #713252 – 8 Years Old – Domestic Long Hair – Male

“Is that a tuna sandwich in your hand? May I please have a bite?” Gage loves food… a little too much, actually. This hefty, handsome lap cat will need a diet and some tough love when it comes to declining his convincing requests to share your meals. Brought to the Humane Society with a very bad temper, Gage would hiss, growl and swat when you tried to pet him. But with terribly matted fur, Gage was only showing his discomfort at the tight clumps of hair pulling his skin. Now he’s sporting a new look – furry boots! And his cattitude? He’s made a complete transition into an affectionate, happy and comfortable companion. Won’t you give this big love muffin a hug? Watch his video.

Pebbles – #707225 – 7 Months Old – Pit Bull Mix – Female

With 125 days and counting, poor Pebbles has spend most of her life in a shelter. This gentle and easygoing sweetheart was found as a stray puppy, taking refuge wherever she could and trying her best to stay alive. When she arrived at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, Pebbles required immediate care to tend to some fresh wounds and to remove the dozens of ticks filling every space between her tender toes.  Since receiving the medical attention and nourishment she needed, this tiny survivor has long forgotten about her humble beginnings.  Now Pebbles enjoys making friends, playing with toys and discovering all of the different kinds of treats made just for dogs.  Who knew?  If you could give Pebbles the fairy tale ending she’s always deserved, please visit this charming pup today at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.  She can’t wait to become someone’s loyal companion.

SPECIAL REQUEST – Good news Brewster found a home!

Tucson boxer mix needs a home

Let's go for a walk!

Each semester PCC Veterinary Technology program “adopts” several dogs and cats from a local shelter to work with the students who learn career skills such as taking temperatures, giving shots, drawing blood, grooming techniques, and animal socialization.  The animals are instrumental in providing students the opportunity to work with live animals and the students leave the program with a wealth of real world experience.  Upon graduation from the program, the students take this experience into local veterinary practices.

At the end of each semester, dogs and cats have been groomed, socialized, neutered/spayed,  micro-chipped, and receive all required vaccines.  Then they are adopted into loving homes.  The cost of adoption is nominal – $16.

Unfortunately, one of the dogs from last semester, Brewster, has been returned because the adopters did not feel they could give him the type of environment and exercise he deserves.  Brewster now needs another home.

Brewster is a 4 year old, 55 pound, male boxer-mix.  Beyond being such a  handsome guy, he is quite loving. Brewster must be placed in a home without other dogs or cats.  If you have children, he would probably prefer them to be a bit older rather than wee little ones.  He prefers a yard where he can spend time with you.  He loves to go on walks.  He also loves to be a couch potato.  This big handsome boy loves to cuddle.
