On Saturday January 28, almost 50 people and about a dozen dogs gathered in front of the Skechers factory store at 3175 N. Campbell Avenue in Tucson to protest the Skechers Super Bowl ad filmed at Tucson Greyhound Park.
Here’s a video of the Skechers protest (Thanks ASU Trish!)
Here’s another video of the Skechers protest The honking was a two-hour constant. (Thanks Dee Painter!)
Meet Dilly, a former track dog. Don’t you love her Roman nose?
ASU students came to protest the Skechers ad and the cruel sport of greyhound racing. Thanks for participating. You demonstrated great enthusiasm.
Signs captured many emotions and thoughts related to the ad and dog racing in general.
People from all walks of life, from Green Valley to Phoenix came to protest. Animal people are the best!
Awesome signs from awesome minds
Baggins came out bearing cookies for the protesters. Great marketing because many of us went there afterward for lunch.
A woman wearing a white blouse with the dog track insignia walked through the throng of protestors asking us why we weren’t helping children on a Saturday morning and why didn’t we have anything better to do. Why wasn’t she out helping children on a Saturday morning? Doesn’t she have something better to do? She also stood among the protestors with two Skechers shopping bags yelling. Not sure what — as she got drowned out by the rest of the crowd.
Thanks to everyone who came out today and for all you do to rescue dogs from the deplorable track and to get the word out about greyhound cruelty. You can read more about the campaign here.
