Most people who know Handi-Dogs know about our Service Dog training – dogs that help people with disabilities live more independent lives. What some don’t know is that Handi-Dogs also helps train dogs with people who are interested in becoming therapy dog volunteers.
Therapy dogs are people’s pets, which after intensive screening are deemed appropriate by a registering organization to bring joy and comfort to others in places where pets traditionally are not allowed such as hospitals, assisted-living, hospice, and domestic violence shelters. Additionally, they can help children learn to read at schools and libraries through Read-to-the-Dog programs.

Also: Handi-Dogs will be offering a NEW 7-week class starting on Thursday, October 4 from 6 – 8:15 pm. The class will be a Therapy Dog Skills Training / Pet Partners Handler Combination Class.
