Ha...great rant, Mark! It <em>is</em> funny that the "seats" in the Red Zone are just as "comfortable" as the ones at the 50 yard line. The UA believes in butt equality! :)

As far as the Cal game, good news! The line has moved and the Cats are now underdogs again. Play up the no-respect card, Coach Stoops!

<em>"But I had someone tell me on Sunday how boring the Washington State game was. The stream of red shirts heading to the exit at halftime agreed."</em>

Man, this crap used to drive me crazy when I had season tickets (sadly, after 8 years, I had to give 'em up. Stupid recession.) I used to take bets with the die-hards who sat around me for when the fair-weather fans would make their exit. It was usually early in the fourth quarter unless the game was within 7 points, or whenever the point difference reached 21 points or more. I guess they could care less that Arizona has overcome greater deficits than that and given up greater leads than that.

It ain't over 'til it's over.

It was the early departures that I never understood. You paid for the ticket. Sat on those uncomfortable benches for three hours. Ate crappy food and a couple of eegees. But now you want to leave before the game is over and the result still in doubt? What the hell?

The only other college football home games I've been to where the fans were worse is LA. When I lived there in the late '80s I went to USC and UCLA games, usually when they were playing the UA. There the fans arrived late and left early and blamed it on the horrific traffic.

I guess those two-hour commutes to get from the UA to the Foothills on a Saturday night is what causes the Fair Weathers to fly the coop. Must be that. It couldn't be that they're cruddy fans. Could it?

And while I'm on a rant, what's the deal with the UA spending $100 million to re-do the south end zone and put up some giant, Texas-Stadium-sized score board instead of installing stadium seating? It's 2009 and we're still sitting on the same aluminum benches UA fans were sitting on when the Cactus Comet was setting rushing records in the '50s. Benches? Really?

I want to buy season tickets again, but I don't want to have half my butt hanging into the aisle for three hours like it used to because the 13 inches the UA affords per butt is too thin. All those fat butts in the middle push the people on the end onto someone else's seat number. I might have paid for seat 1, row 23, but I sat on seat half, row 23. Threat of layoffs made me give up my tics, crappy seats keep me from wanting to buy 'em back.

Keep the stupid scoreboard and put in decent seats. (Not that this has anything to do with Scott's post above).
