Great question. Stanford went 9-1 against Rice, Vanderbilt and Texas, all NCAA tournament-caliber teams. Arizona went 1-3 against its best non-conference opponents (Rice and NMSU) and played 14 non-league games against teams with RPIs worse than 150. Stanford has a better overall record against a tougher schedule so the Cardinal has the better tournament resume. Does Stanford's (18 inning!) loss to Cal change anything? We'll find out on Sunday.

Would you mind explaining why Stanford has a regional locked up? I read the previous article you linked, and looked over their schedule. They swept Rice at home in a weekend series, while we went 0-2 on the road midweek. I may be wrong but I don't think that's as bad as it may seem. Texas (who they also swept at home) is down this year. Lastly, we swept them (albeit at home) and will be even if not better in the Pac-12 standings. Factor in a similar RPI, our attendance, and the fact we haven't had a regional in so long, and I wonder how they have one locked up.

Refsnyer's got some big ones. Heyer comes up bigger than, well, Jake. And with each game in this series, the stakes get bigger. Wish this series were on TV but The Source will have to do.
