Fact: Starting in 1970, every other time the Arizona Wildcats baseball team made it to the College World Series, the UA won it all.

Arizona last went to the CWS in 2004. The Cats did not win the national championship. Does this team have what it takes to continue the decades-long trend?

They say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. The point being, we have no idea what the future holds so to make grandiose plans and assume everything will go exactly how we want is an exercise in futility.

But sometimes – every once in a while – a plan works perfectly. Exhibit A: the 2012 Arizona Wildcats baseball season.

To win a Super Regional game in the college baseball tournament you need star players to rise to the occasion. You need guys to do amazing things, even things never before seen.

Kurt Heyer was incredible for the Arizona Wildcats against St. John’s Friday afternoon. It just so happens his numbers were incredibly bad.

This Week in the Pac-12, Jun. 8: College Baseball Tournament Super Regional Preview

Five Pac-12 teams made the 2012 NCAA baseball tournament and four of them remain. Three from the conference have yet to leave home.

Two teams meet today at high noon at Hi Corbett Field to begin a best-of-three super regional but only one squad will leave Tucson with a ticket to Omaha and the College World Series.

Back Up: Arizona Baseball flexes muscles in sweeping Tucson Regional

So this is why college baseball teams like to host regionals.

If Saturday was a carbon copy of Friday then Sunday was a facsimile of a copy. Only in this case, the reproductions were just as a sharp as the original.

15-3, 16-4, 16-3. Thanks for coming, Louisville and Missouri. Hope you got to see the new elephants at the zoo.
