There was obviously going to be a dropoff from last year with the draft hit but it looked like there was enough pitching left to still be a tournament team.

As you say, things would look a lot better for the Red and Blue if the Cats can beat ASU this weekend.

Not quite next year just yet. Not with a 3 game series versus the U of A's arch-enemy Friday thru Sunday. A lot can be restored, made well with a good showing in Tempe on the part of our Bat Cats. O'Cedar 'em, guys, and the off-season can be mighty good indeed! But can you imagine if all the other coaches on campus had to reload en masse due to the draft taking their best players each year? That's what Coach Lopez. & Co. have to face each season. It's a modern wonder Coach has them as competitive as they are from year to year. BEAR DOWN ARIZONA! FIGHT -- LET 'EM KNOW WHO'S WHO!!

Game 3 in Palo Alto, and that series in general, kind of sums up the season to this point. In the 3rd and deciding game we saw the Cats go up 7-2 on the power of a Moore grand slam. But the UA gets only one more run and the bottom, due to lack of sound pitching, falls right out. Stanford goes on a HR barrage, 12-8 Cardinal. Game over. Season of puzzlement continues. But it ain't over 'til it's over. Maybe this is the Beavs and 2007 all over again. Let's hope.

You can't beat ASU and go straight to the Rose Bowl. Does Gwwweg not know how Pac12 football works? I guess since Arizona has never been, we should expect nothing less from the AD.

Only Gordon knows why he signed with UA, but UK, UO, UW and UA all knew he'd more than likely be a one-and-done. With Whitford, who worked with the bigs, gone you think coach Mills feels a little added pressure to hire an adequate, experienced replacement to help that one year be a memorable one for all the right reasons? Me thinks the new assistant should be a rather old one in PAC-12 circles, at least in terms of having gone around the block a time or two: Bob Cantu. Mayes it appears is the lone senior in the Class of '14. And as a PG who stands to get a fair amount of playing time, even if sharing time with McConnell, he also looks to gain the most with all this talent at the post and on the wings. Kinda like Louisville's Russ Smith this season.
