They say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. The point being, we have no idea what the future holds so to make grandiose plans and assume everything will go exactly how we want is an exercise in futility.

But sometimes – every once in a while – a plan works perfectly. Exhibit A: the 2012 Arizona Wildcats baseball season.

Back Up: Arizona Baseball flexes muscles in sweeping Tucson Regional

So this is why college baseball teams like to host regionals.

If Saturday was a carbon copy of Friday then Sunday was a facsimile of a copy. Only in this case, the reproductions were just as a sharp as the original.

15-3, 16-4, 16-3. Thanks for coming, Louisville and Missouri. Hope you got to see the new elephants at the zoo.

It was a carbon copy of Friday’s game. Arizona’s starting pitcher staggered early but stayed upright until the Wildcat bats put together some hits.

Complete: Kurt Heyer finishes what he starts in Arizona Baseball’s opening win in Tucson Regional

It started out looking like it was going to be a slugfest. And it was, but the Arizona Wildcats did all the slugging.

The Pac-12’s top offense provided more than enough support for the Pac-12’s ERA champ and the host team coasted to a 15-3 victory over Missouri on the opening day of the Tucson Regional.

If this was Kurt Heyer’s final start in Tucson he gave the UA fans a reminder why he’s one of the best to ever wear an Arizona uniform.

The Arizona Wildcats are Pac-12 baseball champions.

It’s been a long time since the program could say that. Two decades and two coaches ago, to be exact. It hasn’t been quite that long for UA head coach Andy Lopez, but it’s been a while.
