Heyer Corbett: Arizona Baseball shuts out ASU to move into tie for first place

The Arizona Wildcats baseball team took the opening game of their series with Arizona State in dramatic fashion Friday night, winning 1-0 when Seth Mejias-Brean doubled in Robert Refsnyder with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Cats then got some help from their friends in Corvallis as Oregon State beat Oregon to move Arizona into a first-place tie with the Ducks with two games remaining in Pac-12 play.

This Week in the Pac-12, May 4: Arizona Baseball hosts Oregon in series of the year

The standings say it all. First Place vs. Second Place. It’s the final time any of the four Pac-12 baseball contenders will meet this year and the winner of the series will be all alone in 1st.

And it all starts in Tucson tonight at 6.

Seaworthy: Arizona Baseball rights ship in Seattle but misses chance to widen Pac-12 lead

The Arizona Wildcats baseball team traveled to Washington and won another Pac-12 series. The UA got some help from around the league and ended the weekend with sole possession of 1st place in the conference standings.

What could possibly be wrong with that?

A lingering weakness flared up on Sunday and left the weekend feeling incomplete.

This Week in the Pac-12, Mar. 30: Arizona faces championship-caliber showdown with Stanford

It has been 20 years since the Arizona Wildcats baseball team hosted an NCAA tournament regional. That’s also the last time the UA won a conference championship.

When the Cats run out onto Hi Corbett Field this weekend to take on the Stanford Cardinal, the home team will have the opportunity to make that first goal seem incomplete without the second one.

Southeast by Southwest: Arizona Baseball takes hard-hitting series from Auburn

The Arizona Wildcats hosted the biggest name on their home nonconference schedule when the Auburn Tigers of the Southeastern Conference visited Hi Corbett Field over the weekend.

The Cats looked dominant in the first two games to win the series but Auburn won the nightcap of Saturday’s doubleheader to avoid a sweep.
