Last week, as I wrote about Arizona Basketball moving into 1st place, I used phrases like “…we should enjoy this while it lasts” and “Get swept…and the party’s over.” A reader responded with the following comment:

The expectations you are setting are too low.

The Arizona Wildcats Are Alone in 1st Place for the First Time in Six Years

Who ordered the perfect night for Arizona Basketball?

The Cats pulled out a clutch road win at Stanford and then Washington shockingly scored a mere 56 points (30 below their average) in losing at Oregon State. It all adds up to the UA being alone in 1st place for the first time since 2005.

First Fun: Arizona Basketball’s 1st-place perch sets up fun month for Wildcat fans

The Arizona Wildcats were resting after an impressive sweep of UCLA and USC when they got some unexpected help from Pullman, Washington. WSU beat Washington Sunday night to drop the Huskies into a 1st-place tie with Arizona.

Thanks, Wazzu!

As a result the Cats will be carrying an extra burden to the Bay Area. Sitting on top of the standings means additional pressure and a larger bull’s-eye.

Ain’t it fun?

The Arizona Wildcats football team lost a huge road game against Stanford and proceeded to fall apart.

The hoops squad could have done the same after a double-digit loss at first-place Washington.

I’m happy to report the UA’s wheels remain firmly intact.

The funk has lifted.

The Arizona Wildcats basketball team returned to feeling good after posting its best non-conference win of the season at North Carolina State.

How should we be feeling about the Cats returning to the NCAA tournament?
