The University of Arizona baseball team only needed one Pac-12 game to run into adversity but the Wildcats recovered to take the weekend series from Washington State.

The Arizona Wildcats’ basketball season ended just in time for the baseball conference season to begin. It’s not the timing any of us wanted but here we are.

I have good news for you if you haven’t been following college baseball up to this point. Pac-12 hardball is the opposite of Pac-12 hoops this year. The league is really good and the UA is contributing to that goodness.

Let’s get up to speed, shall we?

Here Comes Fun: Arizona Basketball week of survival leads to week of opportunity

It wasn’t easy at home but the Arizona Wildcats took care of business against Colorado and Utah. Two wins were needed; two wins were recorded.

Next up is a trip to the state of Washington with first place on the line. These are the games you look forward to as a fan. Big stakes mean big fun.

And big anxiety.

This Week in the Pac-12, Jan. 26: NoCal takes center stage and Arizona tries to return to winning ways

The one good thing about a conference without an elite team is it makes the race more interesting. If you just look at the numbers, eight of the 12 teams can say they still have a shot at the championship.

Last week the top tier eroded so now the league basically is one big middle with a few outlying bottom teams. Will anyone create a bit of separation the final week before the midway point in the Pac-12 season?
