You’ve heard it at every Arizona Wildcats football game this year. You’ve probably said it yourself.

Where are the students?

Attendance has been light all year and by the time the fourth quarter rolls around the ZonaZoo has often resembled a petting zoo. What needs to be done to fill up the student section again?

Bring back the fun. Bring back rushing the field.

The Arizona Wildcats’ victory over Oklahoma State wasn’t just another college football upset.

For Wildcat fans it was turning the tables on a bully, and another big reason to believe Rich Rodriguez can be the man who brings peace to the UA’s troubled football neighborhood.

College sports fans love coaching searches but it’s a very passive process. Unless you have huge dollars to contribute directly to a new coach’s salary, there’s not a whole lot you can do.

Until now. Until this week in Tucson.

If you are a fan of the Arizona Wildcats you have one chance to have a direct impact on the search for a new football coach.

You never want to get bad news over the phone.

There’s no warning. You can’t see it in the other person’s eyes. There’s no grim expression to put you on your guard. Just…bam.

I thought it was going to be a typical call from the University of Arizona athletic department. Probably a recorded message asking me to renew my football season tickets. Maybe a promotion for the new Wildcat Movement. No, it was a live person with news I wasn’t ready to hear.

The Red Zone is gone.

Seize the Next Day: Arizona Football and Basketball miss opportunities but more remain

The Arizona Wildcats football team is not #1 in the country. The Arizona basketball team is not #6.

Stripping the emotion those are the facts after the weekend’s losses. Neither fact ruins your season as long as you regroup and accomplish the goal in front of you.

For the football team the time to regroup is quickly running out but the next goal is crystal clear:

Beat ASU.
