The very British Downton Abbey will look a little bit different in Season 4 thanks to actor Gary Carr, who will portray the hit period drama’s first black character.

The British actor will star as jazz singer Jack Ross.

“We are delighted to introduce another fantastic, dynamic character to Downton Abbey,” executive producer Gareth Neame said in a statement. “His addition will bring interesting twists to the drama which we can’t wait for viewers to see.”

Carr is not the only new cast member who will appear in the fourth season. Other new faces: Kiri Te Kanawa, Julian Ovenden, Nigel Harman, Joanna David and Harriet Walter. Tom Cullen will play Lord Gillingham, Lady Mary’s childhood friend and, now that she’s a widow, a potential suitor.

PBS, which airs the wildly popular ITV series in the United States, has not announced the U.S. air dates for Season 4.

W is for …?

Hey, Kinsey Millhone fans. Wondering what title Sue Grafton has chosen for the 23rd book in her beloved Alphabet mystery series?

Here’s your chance to take a guess and win an early copy of the W book, which goes on sale Sept. 10.

Winning guesses will be entered in a drawing for an advance review copy. One-hundred copies will be available to be won.

To enter, visit facebook.com/SueGrafton. USA TODAY will reveal the title and a first look at the cover next week.

Grafton’s series began with A Is for Alibi in 1982. V Is for Vengeance was released in 2011 and reached No. 4 on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list.

And USA TODAY also offers this exclusive peak into W’s plot:

“Two dead bodies changed the course of my life that fall. One of them I knew and the other I’d never laid eyes on until I saw him in the morgue,” says Kinsey Millhone in the opening lines of W.

Some plot details from publisher Putnam: The first body was a local PI of suspect reputation. He’d been gunned down on a dark stretch of roadway near the beach at Santa Teresa. It looked like a robbery gone bad. The other was found on the beach six weeks later. He’d been sleeping rough. Probably homeless. No identification. A slip of paper with Millhone’s name and number was in his pants’ pocket. The coroner asked her to come to the morgue to see if she could ID him. Two seemingly unrelated deaths, one a murder, the other apparently of natural causes.

But as Kinsey digs deeper into the mystery of the John Doe, some very strange linkages begin to emerge. The surfaces seem clear, but the underpinnings are full of betrayals, misunderstandings and outright murderous fraud. And Kinsey, through no fault of her own, is thoroughly compromised.

The contest is open to U.S. residents only, with a U.S. mailing address (no P.O. boxes please). One guess/entry per household and e-mail address. All advance review copies will be shipped prior to when W Is for … goes on sale.

Happy guessing!
