Carol Burnett has been making people laugh for decades.

And now the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has announced they will present the beloved 80-year-old entertainer with the 16th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The prize is given annually to honor one of the world’s greatest humorists, and Burnett certainly fits that bill. The comedienne, actress and author will be saluted at a special gala performance in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall on Oct. 20, which will feature some of the biggest names in comedy. It will be taped for broadcast and air nationwide on Oct. 30 on PBS (check local listings).

Upon learning she will receive the Mark Twain Prize, Burnett remarked, “I can’t believe I’m getting a humor prize from the Kennedy Center. It’s almost impossible to be funnier than the people in Washington.”

The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor recognizes people who have had an impact on American society in ways similar to the 19th-century novelist and essayist Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain.

Previous recipients include Ellen DeGeneres, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Bill Cosby, George Carlin, Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg.

There’s nothing like a riveting cliffhanger to leave you wanting more.

And when you’ve got the next episode right at your fingertips, watching it right away can be very tempting.

Doing just that without waiting for your significant other is a new form of cheating dubbed by New York Magazine as Netflix Adultery. And in a recent survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Netflix, 51% of those in a relationship would “cheat” on their spouse/partner/significant other by streaming a TV program that was intended to be watched together.

Sneaky.

Some people (12%) even watch it again and pretend it’s the first time they’ve seen it, with no one the wiser.

More specifically, more than 28 million U.S. adults (12%) confessed they already had cheated while 10% admitted they had been “cheated on.”

Other findings:

66% would cheat at home alone, 21% while their partner was asleep, 12% at work and 5% in the bathroom

Younger couples are more likely to cheat, but they’re also more likely to fess up

Older couples choose to not even bother getting into a fight about it and continue to lie

77% of men said they’d cheat, while only 57% of women said they would

Is Selena Gomez taking a cue from her pal Taylor Swift?

In the June issue of InStyle (out May 17), Gomez says fans can look for a track on her new album, Stars Dance, that she wrote specifically about her on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber. Of Love Will Remember, which is about the end of a relationship, Gomez says: “That’s the most personal track on the record, for sure. I think it’s a sweet way of releasing it. It’s not an aggressive approach to what people are probably expecting.”

As for what Bieber will think of it, Gomez is hopeful: “I’m sure he’ll love it too.”

Of pal Swift, Gomez says she’s “like a sister to me. We dated the Jonas Brothers at the same time and ended up becoming best friends. She’s the one I call when I’m having any sort of sadness. She’s very nurturing and protective.” The feeling is mutual: “I’ve known Selena through some of the most important years of both of our lives,” says Swift. “I’ve seen her grow up gracefully and gradually in spite of all the pressure on her. Selena has learned to make and follow her own rules, when to take a chance on projects that are out of her comfort zone, and when to walk away when something isn’t right. She’s living life on her terms.”

Other revelations from the interview include the 21-year-old’s hopes for her career, which she hopes will be a focus solely on acting. “This is a weird transition for me,” she says. “I want to keep pushing myself so I never feel settled. I don’t really know if it’s going to end up working. I’m stressed out most of the time.”

As for dating, Gomez is taking things slow. “I’m from Texas, so I should be married with children already,” she says. “I’m in love with love and totally believe in marriage, but that’s not even on my radar right now. I am not putting energy into dating.”

And the war between American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey rages on…

This time around? Well, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton did stoke the fires.

Let’s backtrack, shall we?

On Wednesday’s Idol, upon critiquing a contestant’s performance, Carey made a jab in Minaj’s direction, saying: “Again, back to the Billboard Hot 100, No. 1 song, which you just performed — which is difficult to get; not everybody has that.”

Here’s where Hilton comes in: responding to a Thursday morning post on his gossip website which declared “Mariah Carey BURNS Nicki Minaj on ‘Idol’,” Minaj tweeted to Hilton, “Bwaha! Burn? Shes sad i tied her record for Hot 100 entries in only 3 years of being in the game. Yep, a black female rapper @perezhilton.”

And then: “What u SHOULD be doing (wit your messy [expletive]) is asking why a woman SO successful at her age, is still so INSECURE, and bitter @perezhilton.”

Oh, and Minaj also alluded to rumors that Idol wants Jennifer Lopez back on the judging panel: “All dem #1s but JLo phone ringin? Lol. I guess having a personality, being a secure woman, and giving genuine critique still trumps that.”

Because at the roughly 3,000-person affair that is the annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, which took place on Saturday, they are the night's biggest draw.

After food was served and an introductory video featuring Kevin Spacey in a spoof of House of Cards was presented, the president of the White House Correspondents' Association, Ed Henry, took to the podium. And then, finally, it was Obama's turn.

"I recognize that this job can take a toll on you. ... We borrowed one of Michelle's tricks," said Obama, as a photo of himself with Photoshopped bangs was displayed across the screens at the dinner.

It's a tradition for the sitting president to speak — and usually be funny, or at least try — at the dinner.

"Maybe I have lost control. This whole controversy of Jay-Z going to Cuba. I got 99 problems and Jay-Z's one of them," joked Obama, referencing the rapper's lyrics.

"Speaking of presidents and legacies, I want to acknowledge Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis, both of whom are here tonight," said Obama, introducing a spoof of Spielberg's next project, Obama, starring the Academy Award-winning actor. "Without him, I never could have played Joe Biden," said Tracy Morgan of Day-Lewis during the clip.

"I know Republicans are still sorting out what happened in 2012, but they need to do a better job figuring out what to do with minorities. I can think of one they can start with," joked Obama. "Think of me as a trial run."

Ending on a serious note, Obama addressed the nation's recent tragedies. "Our thoughts are not far front the people of Boston, or the people of West, Texas."
WASHINGTON — What makes even an A-list celebrity jump up from their dinner table to snap a photo?

President Obama and the first lady, of course. Because at the roughly 3,000-person affair that is the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, which took place on Saturday, they are the night’s biggest draw.

After food was served and an introductory video featuring Kevin Spacey in a spoof of House of Cards was presented, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, Ed Henry, took to the podium. And then, finally, it was Obama’s turn.

“I recognize that this job can take a toll on you. … We borrowed one of Michelle’s tricks,” said Obama, as a photo of himself with Photoshopped bangs was displayed across the screens at the dinner.

It’s a tradition for the sitting president to speak — and usually be funny, or at least try — at the dinner.

“Maybe I have lost control. This whole controversy of Jay-Z going to Cuba. I got 99 problems and Jay-Z’s one of them,” joked Obama, referencing the rapper’s lyrics.

“Speaking of presidents and legacies, I want to acknowledge Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis, both of whom are here tonight,” said Obama, introducing a spoof of Spielberg’s next project, Obama, starring the Academy Award-winning actor. “Without him, I never could have played Joe Biden,” said Tracy Morgan of Day-Lewis during the clip.

“I know Republicans are still sorting out what happened in 2012, but they need to do a better job figuring out what to do with minorities. I can think of one they can start with,” joked Obama. “Think of me as a trial run.”

Ending on a serious note, Obama addressed the nation’s recent tragedies. “Our thoughts are not far front the people of Boston, or the people of West, Texas.” He went on to thank journalists for their hard work covering the events, and members of the military for serving the country.

With the president as his opener, Conan O’Brien, the evening’s headliner, had a tough act to follow. “It’s an honor to share this stage with the president,” began O’Brien. “We both went to Harvard, we both have two children, and we both told Joe Biden we didn’t have any extra tickets to tonight’s event,” he jokes.
Update Monday, 12:26 p.m.: The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is describing Justin Bieber’s weekend visit as “very positive.”

Representatives of the landmark are responding to critics of comments left in a guest book by the pop star, who visited over the weekend.

After the singer caught some heat for writing that “Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber,” representatives posted this on the Anne Frank House Facebook page:

The Anne Frank House was pleased to welcome Justin Bieber to the Anne Frank House last Friday. We think it is very positive that he took the time and effort to visit our museum. He was very interested in the story of Anne Frank and stayed for over an hour. We hope that his visit will inspire his fans to learn more about her life and hopefully read the diary.

Original story: This is truly something you must see to beliebe.

While in Amsterdam over the weekend, Justin Bieber did as many other tourists do: He paid a visit to the Anne Frank House.

The singer also signed the guest book, where he wrote a message, which is posted on the museum’s Facebook page:

“Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”

Oh, yes he did.

The pop star, also known for his evangelical Christian faith, visited the historic location where Frank wrote her famous diary. The Jewish teenager hid from the Nazis for two years before eventually being discovered.
