Question For the Audience

Here is a question that was put to me over the weekend. We will see how the collective consciousness and attuned intellect of our readers handle this one. I will sit back and listen.

If an increasing portion of our nations debt is owed to foreign banks, eg. 28% of our debt is owed to the Bank of Singapore, then who are our troops defending? That was the question.

Is there any true sovereignty when we are so beholden to international banking? How can you be patriotic under those conditions? My question.

Are we not being turned into a proxy UN Force? Ok… go!

    We’ve been a proxy UN force for decades.

    Not directly related – our indebtedness is due solely to having our government controlled by a radical ideology which opposes taxation but not spending. Result – debt.
    It’s sort of an ironic historical phenomenon that this same ideology is in love with spending trillions on military adventures and large corporations that it refers to as the free market.
    But all of this is simply the result of our dysfunctional politics – no one asked us to invade Iraq, we weren’t working as a UN proxy – we had to lie to them to even get them to go along.

    Well said Tip. Do you remember the breaking story by the Columbia Journalism Review that outed the fact the “Curve Ball” was a complete and total hoax fostered upon us by Chilabi. All national media outlets…ALL of them had to retract their stories about the Iraqi National Congress defectors. One man juked the entire Western world!
    I like your comment on alleged free markets. My neighbor, a loyal member of the Grand Ole Party says we are “Corporate Socialists with a Democratic populace”
    Have you ever heard of a treatise entitled “A World Effectively Controlled by the United Nations,‘ a 1962 State Department commissioned study written by DR. Lincoln Bloomfield of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  The year prior, 1961, the State Department  issued a blueprint for a “stable military environment” It was called “Freedom From War.“  It explicity forbad the possession of weapons of mass destruction or the means of delivery and the trained personnel to mount an attack.
    We have achieved the first part as we have not declared since June of 1941! These are called Wars of Assimilation. And one may naturally ask, assimilation to whom? So my syllogism weaves backwards….. who are we fighting FOR?

    There are tons of theories about that and it’s shocking that no one really know. Best theory I have heard is that we are fighting for GWB’s personality problems because he thought that Saddam had dissed his Daddy and wanted revenge.
    Or maybe Cheney had a plan for war strengthening the regime.

    But no one knows for sure – which is a sad tale to tell our soldiers so we have to keep coming up with rationalizations.
    Freedom – yea that’s the ticket ;)

    As  a registered Independent for 33 years now,  I might add that the “Duopoly”  has not allowed a consensus varied view in 50 years.

    57 million Democrats.   43  million Republicans.  32 million registered  Independents.  Ergo, neutered elections.

    So, while  we  reside  in “neuterville” just keep   your mortgage current and help promote the  bogus, “American Dream,”   as you send  your  payments to the Bank of Singapore.

    I think just blaming the two party system is a cop out, when it is the voters that are ultimately responsible – what we have is a polarized electorate. This goes back to the Civil war and the parties have actually swapped sides during this time on actual issues with the “Solid South” now being solidly Republican.

    You have posed a question to a BIG problem. In fact can any one of us actually have an answer with meaning and action behind it? Or are we just cursing the darkness?

    The troops currently defend what they have mostly defended throughout our history – the interests of the ruling class.  Those interests now extend further than before.

    “The troops are always subsidiary to the Congress”  A Congress which has less than 15% who ever served in the Armed Forces.  War is an ongoing abstraction to most.

    There are many sad things about war, but one it seems is that they are used by the politicians to keep the public occupied; while they go about their business.
