Poll results show politicians the way on border issues…if they’ll listen
by Hugh Holub on Jul. 26, 2010, under border issues, politics, SB 1070The various polls taken about illegal immigration, immigration law reform and SB 1070 clearly shows that an overwhelming majority of people want two things done:
–pass meaningful immigration law reform that legalizes the millions of people already in the country.
Interestingly the majority of Republicans oppose immigration law reform and the majority of Democrats favor immigration law reform, but many also want tough border security measures implemented.
Looking at the Democrat controlled Congress and Administration it is obvious that the current government is not doing enough to improve border security. Republicans are blocking any immigration law reform to play to their side of the public opinion.
If the Republicans gain control over Congress and the White House, they obviously won’t alienate their base of support and pursue immigration law reform, and we’ll have the minority Dems blocking border security efforts.
This is a lose – lose situation.
This also screams for bi-partisan efforts to do both things – toughen border security AND pass immigration law reform.
Too bad John McCain quit being the maverick he used to be and jumped over to the one solution approach. McCain could provide much needed leadership from the Republican side to get a win-win solution for border security and get a decent immigration law reform passed.
Like it or not, Americans wants both issues resolved. Get the message politicians?

Immigration Law Reform is a code word for letting 12 million illegal aliens stay here. What will the ones who waited and did it right think about this. It makes our immigration system a laughing stock of the world.
And what political party will these 12 million join………you got it…the Obama democrats. So what happens to the two party system?
And all of this with a drug war going on in Mexico.
