White House on ATF Gunrunner scandal: “I don’t know”by Hugh Holub on Mar. 07, 2011, under atf, mexican drug cartels, mexico, politics, project gunrunner
Sharyl Attkisson and the newsies over at CBS News just won’t let go of the story about ATF letting guns walk into the hands of the Mexican drug cartel.
Today (March 7, 2011) at a White House press briefing they went after the Boss:
White House press secretary Jay Carney did not shed any light Monday on the allegations uncovered by CBS News that ATF intentionally let thousands of assault rifles and other weapons fall into the hands of Mexico’s drug cartels. Insiders call the controversial practice letting guns “walk.”
In the wake of our CBS News investigation, Mexico has asked the U.S. for more information. Two AK-47 type variant assault rifles that ATF allegedly let “walk” were found at the murder scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry last December. Here’s the excerpt from today’s White House briefing:
The official line from the White House is “I don’t know” to questions like does President Obama even know ” that hundreds of guns went into Mexico with the knowledge of ATF?”
The White House does acknowledge talking about the issue with Mexican President Calderon….bet that was an interesting conversation….
There is a tradition when presidents visit they bring gifts…wonder if Calderon thought about dumping 100 ATF “walked” Ak47s onto the White House lawn….
