MSNBC.com link: Michael Jordan’s son transferring to Arizona?by Javier Morales on May. 25, 2010, under Sports
Basketball legend Michael Jordan has some strong ties to former University of Arizona athletes, but his son, Jeff Jordan, will likely not become a current Wildcat.
MSNBC.com ran a link on its college basketball main page Friday that reads: Jordan Jr. transferring from Illinois to Arizona.
However, two things are wrong about this link. First of all, Jordan is named Jeff, not Michael, so he is not Jordan Jr. Also, nowhere in the story is it written that the 6-1 guard with one year of eligibility remaining is headed to Arizona. In fact, the second paragraph reads: “It isn’t clear where Michael Jordan’s eldest son is headed. He couldn’t immediately be reached for comment by The Associated Press and Illinois spokesman Derrick Burson said school officials don’t know Jeff Jordan’s plans.”
Michael Jordan’s ties to former UA athletes include being teammates with Steve Kerr, Jud Buechler and Bison Dele with the world champion Chicago Bulls. Michael Jordan is also a good friend of Sean Elliott, who participated in Jordan’s summer camps early in his UA career.
Former UA baseball player Terry Francona managed Michael Jordan at Class AA Birmingham when the basketball great tried to play baseball in 1994.
Francona, Kerr and Elliott are part of the Bear Down Leader competition featured at our partner site WILDABOUTAZCATS.com
