Josiah Turner: Working on his jump shot in preparation for Arizona Wildcats
by Javier Morales on Dec. 29, 2010, under SportsThe accompanying video released by Coast2CoastRecruiting.net indicates that Sacramento guard Josiah Turner is an Arizona “commit.” The Wildcats are thankful it is one step further than that and Turner, a 5-star point-guard prospect according to Rivals.com, is in the fold as a national letter of intent signee.
Some of the more interesting aspects of the interview with Turner done by Coast2Coast’s Johnny Hernandez:
– He is more of a leader as a senior point guard.
– Arizona is a good school and he has good relationship with coach Sean Miller and his staff.
– Strength is ability to pass the ball, get it up and down the court without any problems.
– He is working on his jump shot (which, by the way, was impressive when Turner played in the Fab 48 Tournament in Las Vegas this summer while leading the Oakland/Drew Gooden Soldiers to a championship along with fellow Arizona signee Nick Johnson).
– He is laid back. Turner is not flashy or outspoken, which is promising. He reminds me in that regard to an unassuming Mike Bibby when he entered the UA program in 1996. Arizona needs players like Turner who will lead by example and channel his energy the right way.
