This essay brings back so many memories of my mother, Mary Almittie, who was my biggest fan from John Spring Junior High to Tucson High to the U of A. She always made sure to have my teammates over for good food and laughs throughout my college career, 56-57, and I found out at occasional basketball team reunions that she did the same for teams many years after my time. She was a fan of all UA sports teams and during Fred Snowden's era she had a seat behind the team. I will always remember driving across the desert from San Diego one night in January of 75 after she had died in Buenos Aires on a university alumni sponsored trip, listening to a game and hearing the announcer say that this particular game was dedicated to her memory. Oh, I still miss her, her excitement at my games: "That's my boy!" or "Rebound! Rebound!" Nothing like a mom in your corner. Happy Mothers Day for all the mothers featured here and those who aren't.

While it's important to note that Noel donated his kidney to save Sean's life and prolong his kid bro's NBA career, the thing about it (and the point of the story) is that Sean, and Noel for that matter, has what Corky describes and Javier so timely writes: Honest to goodness fortitude and integrity, compliments of Odiemae Elliott. As Simpson says, "his (Sean's) devoted mother brought this guy up right.” Thanks for reminding us of this beautiful fact on such a wonderful day, Javier. Nice touch to go with my Pan de Huevo and coffee...
