Rob, we hardly knew ya. But good luck. One more What if?...to the '09 season. And the very first What if?...to the '10 season as well. Here's hoping the Bidwills see fit to hang the Red Bird helmet on your locker come draft day.

Gronk is a freak of nature. An NFL team would have taken him out of high school if possible. By Gronk committing and attending UA, it did wonders for the program before his first snap. He helped us get over the hump and become winners. Due to his talent, I'm sure it elevated the play and work ethic of his team mates. Tough to see him go, but its the right decision for him and his family. I'm very proud and thankful he is a Wildcat!

I believe Rob and his family are people of integrity. I'm sure the dream of playing in the NFL lives and also leaving with his brother I'm sure are both factors.

Still Anthony you've covered sports for a long time. When an athlete says it's not about the money...

I don't think it's the sole reason he left but it's always a factor. There's a likely rookie cap and quite possibly a lockout in 2011 looming. He had to go.

Hopefully we can land his brother Glenn to play receiver in 2011.

Both Rob and his dad said the possible cap in 2011 was not a factor. I don't really think this was a decision about money; it was about taking his NFL dream while he could. No matter where he gets drafted, Rob has first-round talent and, if healthy, is going to have a long and productive NFL career.

Guys you're forgetting the big picture... UNCAPPED SEASON! 2010 will probably be the last year that NFL will not have the rookie pay scale. Even if Gronk drops to late in the 2nd round, he could conceivably make more money this year than as being a pick in the 10-20 range of next years draft. I don't blame him. TE's like him are few and far between. He'll have a long career ahead of him. It sucks that he couldn't play this year. In heinsight though, he wasn't going to stay past this season anyway.

I'll admit a great TE is the best weapon in football, however, there were some positives due to his injury. The team broke in a new qurterback without him and the offense wasn't dependent on him. The red zone struggles went away in the second half of the season. The likes of Juron Criner, David Douglas, Bug Wright and David Roberts all broke through, improved, and had great years because of the opportunity.

I'll miss Rob. Good luck to him. But we can't keep them forever and the team already knows it can win without him.

That said, dammit a healthy Gronk and Grigs and the Cats easily win 10 and go to the Rose Bowl.

He hired Rosenhaus? Sounds like Big G is more about the money than the football. My estimation of the kid just went down.
Too bad.
So long Gronk. You could have been great, but 75 career catches and 1,200 yards doesn't get it done.
Hopefully in the pros you end up the next Newsome or Winslow and not the next Manumaleuna.

Gronk wanted a GUARANTEE that he'll get in the 1st round. From what I've read, there was no guarantee. Some teams said he'll be a 1st rounder, some said the 2nd, and there's reports that he could even fall to the 3rd and 4th. If he just wanted to get drafted, then it's fine. But with wanting a 1st round guarantee, I just don't get it. How many of these underclassmen get told the same thing, yet look amazed or disappointed when they fall in the draft board...whether it be the NFL or NBA? Best luck to him and I hope he gets selected in the 1st round...but under his OWN criteria...it appears he made a mistake. Nonetheless, GO CATS!
