Arizona Wildcats open at No. 18 in BCS standingsby Anthony Gimino on Oct. 17, 2010, under Sports
The Arizona Wildcats debuted at No. 18 in this season’s first BCS standings, released Sunday night.
The BCS rankings are determined by one-third of the score from the USA Today coaches poll, one third from the Harris poll, and one third from the average of six computer rankings.
Arizona is 18th in both voter polls but gets a little more love from the computers, who have the Wildcats at No. 15.
The Wildcats (5-1 overall, 2-1 Pac-10) are among good company, one spot behind Florida State and one spot ahead of Texas in the BCS standings.
Oklahoma is No. 1, followed by Oregon, Boise State, Auburn and TCU. The rest of the top 10: LSU, Michigan State, Alabama, Utah and Ohio State.
Stanford, at No. 12, is the only other Pac-10 team among the Top 25.
