It is just so dissapointing to see the team look so inefectual for the most part. The defense played reasonably well but the offence was out of sink. The play calling was brutal. All together an embarrassment for the program. Hope it does not effect recruiting!

First-a head coach in college is equivalent to a CEO. Stoops antics are an embarrassment and what good do they do. Second, yes, it is the players because Stoops is not landing elite players. You can only go so far and coach up so many 2 and 3 stars before it catches up to you. You cannot hang against USC, OK State, etc without consistent elite talent. Third, why two O coordinators? That was doomed to fail. Fourth-feel free to mix in a blitz more than once a game on D.

Tucson Homers. Come on Maaaannn! Stoops will never get you anything better than a Las Vegas Pioneer Bowl win. Remember how bad things use to be is not acceptable in todays college football. 7-6 gets you fired in other conferences. This UA team has alot of talent, but it is consistantly unprepared. I've watched their practices. Piped in rap music, playing grab a-- on the sidelines, 1/2 the players roaming around not paying attention to the various drills and coaching and the coaching staff ranting and raving like an ex-wife. Face it, you play like you practice. Don't accept mediocre and get rid of this guy.

I'm not sure that Stoops deserves all of the blame for how this team has played. All those errors that AZ alum 1993 mentioned can be traced to the assistant coaches. Lack of discipline and attention to detail are a product of poor position coaching, although Stoops is ultimately responsible. One of ESPN's announcing crew said that a head coach's duties are becoming less about coaching and more about managing and fundraising (or something like that). Starting with Hammerschmidt, a number of the position coaches need to go. Period.

Stoops is just fine. I love his sideline antics. I think you guys forget how awful we were before him. Arizona is very difficult place to recruit and Stoops has taken multiple 2 and 3 star recruits and turned them into NFL caliberplayers. Not to mention (though we lost) back to back bowl games which were the #1 bowl games not in the bcs, not many other coaches can say that right now in the pac 10. I dont think we are ever gonna a top tier team were a freakin basketball school. I will take 8 and 9 win seasons all day long. We need a high caliber offensive cordinator. and we will be fine

For all those on the 'Fire Stoops' bandwagon be careful. Having lived in Tucson since the mid 70's I've seen my fair share of good and bad coaches and I can tell you Stoops is a good one!
Remember coach stoops doesn't receive passes, doesn't run the ball and doesn't kick PATs or FG's (though he might wanna try).
Point is the difference between good and great is the small stuff. This whole season, while good, was filled with SMALL mistakes!
Mistake 1 - How many times did Nic put the ball on the ground (sorry Grigsby I love you but you just didn't rise to the occasion). Greg N has potential but the O line is crap and gives no run support! Were 88th in the nation in rushing....In other words we have NO RUN GAME! Cant establish an effective pass game in the red zone if you have no run game. Not to mention most teams are able to balance their attack in the red zone and put points up.
Mistake 2 - PATs and FGs wont win every game but it would have won us possibly 3 more - AZ state, Org State and USC.
Mistake 3 - Dropped passes (on both sides) TOO TOO TOOOOOO many dropped passes. Yes our team dominates the air war but if you rely solely on that (due to Mistake 1 then you better not drop a single pass!
Mistake 4 - Mental errors and penalties...Too many to mention with them all being capped off with Bug dropping a punt return in last nights game...WTF!)....nuf said about that.
The one bright spot was the D. Even the D-backs who got schooled several games this season played a bit better(just a bit)
In summary sloppy play and players not rising to their potential killed us in this game (and several other this season and last season for that matter)...Not the Coach!
As for the comment about Stoops demeanor and him being too tuff and that it might be better to have a more 'gentle', soft spoken, fatherly coach...Your right lets call John Mackovic...He Rocked!..sorry John your a nice guy just not the right coach! You may not like the fact that Stoops is 'Fired Up' but at least he's 'Fired Up'....The guy clearly wants to win and he expects that from his players.

Somebody said it best - "If you CANT stop the run and you CANT run the ball you CANT win" Well we had half that last night lets hope for a run game in the off season.

First of all, the unimaginative, "sand lot" offensive plays Arizona ran were an embarrassment. End arounds, flea flickers, double reverses...plays like that against Oklahoma States' defensive speed and pursuit will never work. And all those long, disastrous forward passes from Foles have too much "hang time" in coverage...allowing defensive backs to recover and defend even when they're beaten.
Secondly, every time I see Arizona in a big game, they are never ready at the start or if they get ahead, they get cocky and play like the game is over when it's not. You see it in every second level team.
Last, this coach Stoops is totally out of control. His demeanor and temperament, no matter how frustrated he is, affects his athletes. His yelling and screaming more than likely are responsible for the lower level of play as everybody is tight out there...tension can ruin an athlete's performance and it appears that it's also affecting play selection and game plans. He is very unimpressive.
