Good job in Hawaii, Stoops. Rivals.com rates Hawaii’s top ten players, and those two guys don’t appear on the list. Meanwhile, the University of Colorado pulled in Hawaii’s Juda Parker, K.T. Tuumalo, and Paulay Asiata, the #1, #5, and #6 players on that list, respectively.
Mike Tuiasosopo will be invaluable for CU in the islands, but this year’s feat was accomplished primarily due to the efforts of our new head coach Jon Embree and 22-year Buff assistant Brian Cabral, who hails from Hawaii, played at CU and in the NFL, and whose brother is an assistant at Punahou HS. While Cabral has stayed through 5 head coaches, Embree put a staff together that had 13 recruiting contact days, due to his late hire and dead periods. Let’s just say that CU looks forward to competing with UA on the field and in recruiting.

A.G: One correction; if you check back you will find that Stan Mataali was a player during the Larry Smith era. I remember him well because Larry once said in a t.v. interview when asked about what Stan could bench? “The gym,” was Larry’s response. I also remember him on the field as he was one of my favorite guys and a real Larry Smith type payer, 6-1, 284, and I believe he played in 84, 85.
