Based on other versions of this story, it sounds as though this may actually be a step back for those of us from far-flung areas, in terms of viewing “our” teams. In my case, for instance, I live in SoCal, a UofA alum. I’ve been a subscriber to DTV’s sports package for years, and thus get Fox Sports AZ. It sounds as though I may not have access to the AZ feed (above and beyond the issue of no satellite contract at this point, which I imagine will be resolved). If, in SoCal, my only channels are the pac-12 national feed and the so-cal feed, I’ll miss out on dozens of UA games that I now receive. I’ve not read anything to suggest that I’ll have the option to obtain out-of-my-region Pac-12 feeds. That would be a very bad move on the part of the league.

No satellite providers announced at this time, but there are plenty of details to work out in the next 12 months. The regional Fox networks will now be out of the Pac-12 telecasting.

Any indication of how this will be handled by satellite and expanded-cable providers? Will this be an all-HD service? What does this mean for the regional Fox Sports Net channels? Might they be the interface by which viewers will get these broadcasts, or are they out of the mix?
