I didn't ask Hammer directly about Elias' size, but it would be less of an issue on punts because of the personal protectors behind the snapper. The snapper is also protected by rule for one second before the defense can initiate contact.

There are plenty of DB’s the same size on punt and kick-off coverage so I don’t see that being a real issue. I am curious though how good he is in preventing

Wow! I looked at his vids. He is good. What stands out to me his his work ethic. Very sound. I like also how coach upon receiving the long snaps didn’t have to move to his feet or hands because of his accuracy. His consistency, which is paramount, appears to be spot on.
Anthony. Obviously since Coach Stoops has chosen him as the starter he feels the size is not an issue in view of what he brings to the table. I am curious though how much size factors in for this specialty. Did the coaches have anything to say about that?

Hammerschmidt told me in an earlier story that the coaches thought Gorham's size was an issue in terms of stopping penetration on the snaps for field goals and extra points.

Zonacat, I would think that his size would not be as much of an issue on punts, but he does seem awfully small. He could get crushed on punt coverage.

He’s listed at 6′ 190 lbs…wasn’t one of the special team issues that Chase Gorham was small as well and not able to block defenders? Seems like this will be an issue again.
