Stoops is not head coach material. His best years at UA were while the rest of the conference sucked. Harbaugh built Stanford into a power over night, and they have tougher academic standards.

I just hope Byrne brings in a good coach who can take this program up a notch, back to where it was during the Larry Smith/Dick Tomey years, it's a shame when a program is knocked into the dark ages because of one incompetent athletic director. Even more amazing is when that athletic director actually gets hired elsewhere given their horrible record.

Oh well, I'm optimistic about the coaching search and looking forward to getting new players into the program, the current receiving corps, for instance, drops too many balls.
Scott will be great next year with the right coaching staff.

Rick, we are in the basement, we're there with Colorado, how do you figure we're betwen the first and second floors? This program sucks. Utah has terrible facilities compared to UA and they just put a beating on us, thanks to some very questionable coaching and play calling.

I do not agree at all, while I respect your opinion, this is still a team with a much higher caliber of athlete then when Mac. left the program in Shambles 8 years ago. I was never a staunch stoops supporter by any means but he breathed a hell of a lot of life into this program before he left.

It was time for stoops to go and Byrne to try and plug a hole in a sinking ship. What he accomplished by doing this was to tell the country, we want to sustain a winner and we want to find the next step in elevating our program. That losing streak was an unfortunate perfect storm of a brutal schedule, very young talent across the board, poor scheming, poor player management and a slew of nasty injuries which seems to be common for the best players in our program.

I believe this team can be a darkhorse to win the PAC next year with the right coach and there is a ton of talent that is on the bench right now due to injuries and red shirts. With the right coach I think we will be much better next year and in years to come. In the meantime, I think we still have to thank stoops for leaving us on the steps between the second and first floor instead of the basement.

A few observations from the 50 yard line:

1. Why fire stoops in mid season? I see no advantage in doing it that way. Only think I can think of is stoops said "do it now or do it later, I don't care" and GB did.

2. I'm sick and tired of the "thank you for all you did" crap for the last coach. All he did was bring us back full circle to where we were when he was hired, except I don't think this guy was mentally ill.

3. Look at the lack of posts on the discussion boards. The biggest enemy isn't anger. The biggest enemy is apathy. This season saw a 20 year tailgate go to the wayside. People just don't give a rats ass any more. I've already decided to skip my first home game in 20 years or so and that's the one against the louisiana team. Imagine if you will if we played LSU again in Stoops year eight. Same damn result as the first meeting. So ok, thanks coach for whatever the hell you did. Still trying to figure that one out.

So GB go ahead an hire a cheap, unproven assistant. Give him eight years, fire, repeat. Same ole crappy Arizona football.

Have a great day and remember to stand on top of your roof and yell BEAR DOWN or you are a bad Wildcat!
