I’d rather have Regis Philbin than Mike Bellotti. It’s not that I dislike this coach, it’s that I think we won’t improve from what we had before. We had 3 bowl games in a row! All Mike Bellotti wants is a big paycheck. He won’t work for it and besides I think he would rather be in a school where football is the main show. This is my show!

His stint in the Ivy League was pretty impressive too. Imagine what he can do with the Cat offense after what he's done with the Pack's Rodgers and Co...Why is Tulane so hot in pursuit but not Byrne? I mean, if not Hunley, Cecil or Bruschi, or some combination of these 3 hombres...Philbin with any of those 3 UA defensive legends as his D-Coord would be something!

Yes, I’m still campaigning because I think Bellotti will leave. The poor guy is probably on geritol. Think about it, people retire at 62-65 because most of them can’t do the job anymore. Would I hire a 60 year old Bellotti to coach U of A if my life depended on it? Heck no! And I’m serious! The stepchild here can do better. We had a glimpse of what Arizona is capable of. Mike Bellotti’s overall record is 137-80-2 why would we want someone that started with Oregon when he was in his 40′s.

Mike Bellotti reminds me of the stock market. You pick the stock whether it’s CSCO or some other stock. Just because the stock was up at one time doesn’t mean it will be up again. That is how I describe Mike Bellotti. Football isn’t rocket science why Bellotti? Is he a rocket scientist? He doesn’t even look good in a Arizona hat!

Michigan 45 Nebraska 17 this equals to Rich Rodriguez recruits! If you want to become a winner hire Rodriguez. If you want the same thing you’ve been getting hire anyone else.

Why would reporters continue to push for less? Do they get energized writing about losing instead of winning? We associate fans, and writers/reporters with their football programs. If you are considered a loser well then that is what you are. Let’s take the rivalry games with ASU and Arizona, USC vs UCLA, Ohio St. vs Michigan. Why have a low perception of being a loser? Come on life is about winning and feeling good. Look what we were going through before Coach Miller. Now all of a sudden we walk around with our heads up and the chest out.

I respectfully disagree with Gimino’s column. First of all Greg Byrne will not hire someone who is over 60 years old. Also Mike Bellotti has stated that he would not go back to in-house recruiting, and keeping the early and late hours that it takes to be near the leading-edge of recruiting and trying to keep a program competitive. He’s also said that as an analyst he’s doing just fine. Greg Byrne does not want a father figure as his coach. Greg wants a coach who is young, enthusiastic, has the energy to work the long hours that it takes to be competitive. Greg Byrne will not hire someone who is past his prime, where there will be that possibility that the coach won’t stay, and decide to retire. It take’s 3-4 years to turn a program around and Mike Bellotti at his age doesn’t have the fight in him. What 60 year old does? Any speculation otherwise is pure speculation and we all have ours.

I do hope and have the trust that our AD will hire someone who wants to be at Arizona and not one who takes the job because he could not get the job he wanted. People who are waiting around to see if something better shows up should not get a secont thought.

Jaime points out the good coaches who come to Arizona always suddenly get stupid. Could it be the water? Jaime has had this water and it tastes ok. Bellotti would be up against over a century of clownish amateurism in football. Baggage includes a car dealer buttinski, if Jaime has his Polish correct. Jaime always hopes for best, but knows nothing good will happen. Aye Carrumba!

I disagree. The end of the season is today. ULL is the post season scrimmage…but with fewer fans than the pre-season scrimmage.
