Cats add second runner to class

Arizona has received its fourth commitment in two weeks and at the same time filled its running back needs. Southern California running back Jared Baker committed to the Wildcats on Tuesday.baker

Baker is a 5-9, 180 pounder from Loyola High School in the Los Angeles area and fits in with the type of undersized, but powerful running back the Wildcats have been recruiting of late.

Baker confirmed his commitment to ESPN and says other than taking an unofficial and official to Arizona, he is not making any other visits.

Baker (5-foot-9 180-pounds) rushed for 1458 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior and was his league’s Offensive Player of the Year as well as a second team All-State selection.

His commitment, combined with last week’s pledge by Ka’Deem Carey, means the Wildcats are likely done with the running back position in the class. With two running backs in this class, plus three underclass running backs currently on the roster, it seems unlikely the Cats will add any more.

In another bit of news, Chandler quarterback Brett Hundley, the reigning Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year, has narrowed his list to five and the Wildcats are on it. UCLA, Washington, Texas A&M and Oregon join the Wildcats on his list.
