Arizona Wildcats 2011 first look: Quarterbacksby Brad Allis on Dec. 13, 2010, under Arizona Wildcats Football, Sports
Arizona has not finished the 2010 season but it is not too early to look ahead to 2011. A lot is still to be determined thanks to position battles, possible departures and recruiting, but we can get a basic idea of how things will look next season. Today we start with the quarterback position.
OVERVIEW: The Cats are set to return all four scholarship quarterbacks assuming that Nick Foles does not declare for the draft or Matt Scott transfers. The Cats led the Pac-10 in passing and Foles and Scott both proved they can move the offense.
SAY GOODBYE TO: As of now, no one, but Foles could still consider the NFL
SAY HELLO TO: Daxx Garman. The incoming freshman has had a wild prep career and did not play as a senior after being ruled ineligible due to residency issues. He has seen his stock drop in the recruiting rankings, but has a load of talent.
GET TO KNOW: Cameron Allerheiligen. The freshman quarterback came in with very little acclaim and redshirted this year. Odds are he won’t be in the mix next year either, but will be in the mix a year from now when the Wildcats say goodbye to Foles, Beirne and Scott.
QUESTIONS: Will Scott and Foles be back? If both return, would Scott consider redshirting so he can start in 2012? Will the Cats add another QB in the class?
