The win over Iowa has already paid dividends for the Arizona Wildcat football team. Wide receiver David Richards of Palmdale
(Calif.) High School was in town for the team’s win over Iowa and decided to end his recruitment.
“I felt for a long time I wanted to go to Arizona and I was leaning for a while,” Richards told WildcatSportsReport.com’s Chris Bonney. “I am a Wildcat and we are going to do big things.”
At 6-3, 195, Richards is similar to a number of the receivers the Wildcats have recruited in recent years. Arizona signed three receivers 6-3 or taller in the last recruiting class (though one never enrolled), and brought in the 6-4 Dan Buckner via transfer.
“Coach (David) Nichol recruited me for Arizona,” said Richards. “I play wide receiver and he is recruiting me for the X or Z. I am an outside receiver.”
Although he had been an Arizona lean, it was the visit that sealed the deal.
“My visit was awesome,” said Richards. “The stadium, the facilities and the game was great. Loud and a real cool atmosphere.
