Although Jerrett was the first player in the class to commit, he was the last to sign. Monday was the first day the 6-9 big man could sign in front of all his family and his high school principal. He signed the documents at a formal event at his school, La Verne Lutheran.

Sometime after 6:00 Miller walked into the media room in the bowels of McKale. He had a towel slung over his shoulder and was still wearing the gray Arizona basketball shirt and gym shorts he had on at practice. Despite signing the best class, at least on paper, in Arizona history, Miller still had a practice to conduct. 15 minutes after practice ended Miller was now in front of the media talking about the four new players he could officially welcome into the Wildcat family.

“To say the least, we’re very, very excited,” Miller said. “We’ve addressed certain things from a program perspective, players who add length and size to our current team and Gabe (York) is the one guard of the group.”

Miller was as quick to stress the character of each player as he was their imense talent and potential.

“From a character perspective, I don’t think we can get four more high-character kids than those four guys,” Miller noted in his opening remarks. “And I hope with who we have in our current program, as we as a staff enter the fourth year at Arizona, that we would have the deepest and most versatile team that we’ve had here at Arizona in our short time. But it’s very exciting to have these four guys, and we thank their families and coaches for believing in us. We certainly have every aspiration to do great things together.”

Miller is aware of the rankings for the class, nearly every reliable scouting service ranks it No. 1, but would not rank it himself. He did admit it was really good.

“I don’t know if we are No. 1,’’ Miller said, “but I don’t know if there are any better.’’

Miller also knows that with such a talented class, especially when mixed with last year’s top-10 rated class, that the expectations are high. Miller also said he expects the expectations as part of the job.

“I’ve really tried to deal with the pressure the same way,’’ Miller said. “If you fear it, you probably shouldn’t be here. We know what’s expected, and that’s what we’re working towards every day. We are moving to have really successful seasons in the future.’’
