I am not sure how the green obama legislation relates to mining but if it&#039;s anything how it will pretty much destroy all other energy producing industries, other than wind ect, you can pretty much count this one as dead within the next ten years, unless another distraction trumps this green legislation.

		<description><![CDATA[Other than the editorializing about &quot;guv&#039;ment interference&quot;  this is interesting information, especially for those of us in AZ.  Your argument about not reclaiming open pit mines that could see future productivity is compelling.  It would certainly be a boon if new technologies could avoid the need for more digs in the future.

As to regulation of industry, the mining industry has one of the worst records when it comes to self-regulation vis a vis worker rights, worker safety and environmental concerns.  Your focus appears to be strictly on the economics of extraction and your bias appears to be strictly in favor of the mine owners.  The welfare of the worker and the environment, as well as access to mined materials, are equally important considerations to society as a whole. ]]></description>
