You are reading the time scale on the Post Office graph improperly, it goes from 1880 to about 2005. For a longer view of temperature change, since the end of the last glacial epoch (and the end of the mammoths) see:

Ak ok, I get it. It’s really small. And sure its been rising since the ice age (which they always forget to mention). But looking at your graph it’s been a nice steady rise since the mammoths and then the last few decades….bam. That’s weird. Do you think that quick rate of change after millions of steady years matters? I was like ‘wow’.

It’s more graph magic. That whole temperature rise is 0.8 degree C, but it looks bigger by the way the scales are set. The temperature has warmed since the depths of “The Little Ice Age.” If the graph had been extended back in time, we would see that current temperatures are not quite as warm as the Medieval warm period, the Roman warm period, or the Holocene climatic optimum.

This post shows the length to which some researchers go to get on the climate change bandwagon. It also shows that statistics can be invented and manipulated, and that correlation does not prove causation.

By massaging data and using statistics, you can find correlations (or anti-correlations if that is your goal) for almost anything.

This post demonstrates the sad state of climate science today.
