How Republicans can win 40% of the vote they need in order to win 2012 Presidential elections

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

From the Guardian where you can read the entire story here:

How Latino voters will choose in 2012

<snip>

So, looking to 2012 and the race for the GOP nomination, rather than fight about who can build the tallest electric fence, Republicans have a unique opportunity to win at least the 40% of the Hispanic vote they will need for the upcoming presidential election. GOP presidential candidates need political cover from those Republican senators and representatives who are in safe seats to take on the tough issue of immigration. Those who are secure in their districts (or states) should confront the dysfunctional immigration system head-on with reasonable proposals. After all, several state Republican lawmakers have complained that the immigration system is broken – and they attribute much of the blame to the federal government.

If federal lawmakers, particularly those from the Republican party, can demonstrate their ability to address a difficult issue in a rational way, it will only serve to benefit the economy. And all Americans stand to gain if, instead of having their tax burdens raised, new tax payers can be found and nurtured. Millions of dollars are currently wasted on detaining undocumented immigrants who perform services as nannies, gardeners and fast food workers. Tax payer dollars should be spent smartly in pursuing only the undocumented who do harm to others. Republican lawmakers can win the message war – and Latino hearts – if they rely on the factual data from economists that shows how low-skilled immigrants do indeed help create more middle-class jobs for natives and contribute to the overall economy.

There is one problem which the GOP has that prevents this from happening – and his name is Lamar Smith. While it is true that Obama is deporting record numbers of immigrants, the Texas congressman penned an op-ed recently that claimed misleadingly that the administration is artificially inflating its deportation numbers. Smith, meanwhile, continues to push for enforcement-only policies through big-government, bureaucratic methods like the E-Verify program and the prison system.

<snip>

The Republican party must learn the lesson of the Reid/Angle election – particularly in the US southwest where Latinos are registering themselves in droves. If Obama does in 2012 what Reid did at the last minute in 2010 in order to woo Latinos to go to the polls, Republicans will rue the day they threw away millions of vital votes.

Mitt Romney Crosses the Line With Latinos Using Vicente Fox (trade partner) and Severing Relations with Southwestern Latinos Permanently

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Mitt Romney makes Jon Huntsman look like a saint…er…Joseph Smith. But what does Mitt Romney and extremist Russell Pearce have in common?

Allow me to number them:

  1. Both are members of the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS), and they continue to give the Mormon church a bad image in advocating for “Operation Wetback” type of policies.  Those uncompassionate views are not in alignment with what the UTAH COMPACT.  In fact the Mormon Church is on the record for supporting principles of the UTAH COMPACT.
  2. Both have extreme ideas with their large government ideas as they support e-verify policies that put an additional burden on small businesses as it adds another level of bureaucracy.
  3. Both seem to have campaign workers that will manage to find Latinos to do their dirty work for them.  Romney appears to use Marco Rubio.  While Russell Pearce supporters take advantage of Olivia Cortes.

Quote me:

Mitt Romney’s continued anti-immigrant and and anti-Latino rhetoric since he ran against Senator John McCain will send the REPUBLICAN PARTY to  levels of Hispanic voter support that predates the Ronald Reagan era.

Mitt Romney supports Cuban amnesty (Cuban-Americans make up 3% of the total Hispanic population pie), but he damns the rest of the Latinos and Mexican-Americans and will not even support fixing the broken immigration system.  (Mexican-Americans make up almost 70% of the total Latino population pie).   Since Romney cannot do basic math, he will reap what he sows and receive only 3% of the Latin vote when things come full circle.  He is an “amnesty” hypocrite and apparently nobody told him that the birthers and nativists are already attacking Cuban constituents.

Do these Republican Presidential candidates not know they are hurting the Republican Party with their continued rhetoric?  Start popping the popcorn so we can watch how Romney will get what he deserves for demonizing the immigrants yet taking a hypocritical stance with regard to supporting Cuban amnesty.

Mitt Romney continues to use a failed strategy that he used against Senator John McCain during the 2008 Republican Presidential Primaries.  Romney’s salaciousness continues, and I remember oh too  well his continued anti-immigrant tactics since before 2008. I just cannot forget how he puts a failed populist approach in demonizing a group of people.  And it is people like Mitt Romney that will continue to cause Latinos to flee the Republican Party.

Mitt Romney has crossed the line and has gone beyond the point of no return with Latino community organizers and leaders.

In this linked video,  Romney has the audacity to paint Mexico President Vicente Fox in a negative light.  Keep in mind that Mitt Romney is not acting like a good chief in command.  He is not going to be a good leader if he uses wedge issues against a good trading partner of ours, in fact,   Mexico’s GDP is growing faster than the United Sates and is still a good trading partner of the United States. For Romney to use Fox in the manner he has in the video against Rick Perry is reprehensible.

Ronald Reagan’s amnesty program is the direct result of increased Latino Republican voters, but the likes of Mitt Romney, Herman Cain (advocating deadly electric fences), and Michele Bachmann’s horrific un-pro life remarks as she uses defamatory and offensive terms like “anchor babies” will cause Latinos to flee the GOP.

Both President Ronald Reagan and President George W. Bush received more than 40 percent of the Hispanic vote in their reelection campaigns. Some analysts note that a Republican needs to receive 40 percent of the Latino vote to win the presidency. In fact, for many candidates in 2010, failing to engage the Latino voter cost them the election. So those who appeal to Latino voters early stand a better chance of ending strong.

Mitt Romney will be lucky to get double digit support from Latinos as we fully intend to equate him to Russell Pearce and Joe Arpaio of Arizona.  In fact, Romney made it a point to make Arpaio his chair when he ran against John McCain in 2008.

The best chances the Republican has to have some level of Hispanic support is via Newt Gingrich or Rick Perry.  And, that’s the bottom line, folks.

Latina GOPer Reacts to Cain’s Deadly Electric Fence Remark; Calls on RNC to Moderate Extremism

Monday, October 17th, 2011

Just in, from the Somos Republicans Northwest Director:

Reaction to Comments by GOP Presidential Candidate Herman Cain

Dear Mr. Cain,

Allow me to get to the point. You are not presidential material and your comments about how you would deal with the immigration issue prove that this. It is appalling that in this day and age politicians resort to incendiary and cruel comments to pander to voters. You have brushed off your comments as being merely jokes and WE ARE NOT LAUGHING.

Regardless of what side of the immigration issue one happens to be, we need to agree that the issue is a human issue. Do not forget you are referring to the electrocution and mauling of God’s children. You claim that you do not care about political correctness. This is not about political correctness, this is about basic humanity. Our Constitution provides you with the right to free speech. Use it responsibly.

Hate filled rhetoric is bad business for party and most importantly the nation. The party has lost Latino voter support and it will take decades before it recovers. You claim you don’t pander to any groups. It is very clear that you are pandering. In your efforts to pander to the extremists in the Republican Party, you have alienated a group that can swing presidential elections in key states.

It seems that some polls are showing you in the lead; let me assure you that this is a pyrrhic victory for polls in primaries are fickle and the damage that you are inflicting on the party and the nation is no laughing matter. The end result will be four more years of Obama.

I am the Northwest Director for the largest Latino Republican group in the nation, Somos Republicans. As diverse as the Latino community in the United State is, a recent poll conducted by impreMedia/Latino Decisions found that a majority of Latino voters (53%) said they know someone who is undocumented, while one-fourth (25%) said they know a person or have a family member who is facing deportation or who has been deported. The poll was conducted among registered voters, who by definition are citizens of the United States.

The majority of Republicans do not espouse extremist views on immigration and many of us want to see the immigration system overhauled because it is clear that what we currently have in place is not working.

This letter to you is also a call to the Republican National Committee (RNC) and other GOP Presidential Candidates to repudiate your rhetoric.

Sincerely,

Antonella Packard
Somos Republicans Northwest Director

John Birch Society does not pass the smell test in Olivia Cortes and Russell Pearce controversy.

Friday, October 14th, 2011

If former legislator and AZ State John Birch Society leader Barbara Blewster collected signatures for Olivia Cortes does this mean they actually support Cortes and no longer Pearce or was she being less than Honest? Either way something doesn’t pass the smell test.

We were told that Barbara Blewster is a member of the Latter Day Saints Church (LDS), but does this mean that Barbara does not support LDS views on immigration via the UTAH COMPACT? If Ms. Blewster does not support the Utah Compact or the compassionate views of the LDS church, then she is another person who is damaging to that compassionate image.  Mitt Romney’s anti-immigrant stance is already doing a number for that image since he wants to send all undocumented immigrants back to where they came from.  Mitt Romney, Russell Pearce, and Blewster are not helping the image and work of Mormon missionaries and that is unfortunate.

Picture below of Blewster collecting signatures for Olivia Cortes, a Hispanic female, who was more than likely persuaded or willingly participated in a sham candidacy to run against State Senator Russell Pearce in the upcoming recall election.

GOP Presidential Candidate joins Occupy Wall Street? The end is near.

Monday, October 10th, 2011

The “end may as well be near”, since it has been discovered a GOP Presidential candidate will join Occupy Wall Street.

You hardly hear about him in the news, but it’s true. Buddy Roemer, a 2012 Presidential Candidate is joining Occupy Wall Street. Very strange and controversial indeed, especially when Mitt Romney (another 2012 Presidential Candidate) considers it “dangerous” to Occupy Wall Street. Of course, we all know that Mitt Romney is the epitome of Wall Street.

Here is the story:

Buddy Roemer joining Occupy Wall Street protest

By ALEXANDER BURNS | 10/10/11 8:03 AM EDT Updated: 10/10/11 8:34 AM EDT

Long-shot presidential candidate Buddy Roemer will take his support for Occupy Wall Street to the next level Tuesday when he joins a demonstration in New York.

Roemer has been the lone Republican to praise Occupy Wall Street as an expression of public anger against what he calls a “government … controlled by special interest money.” It’s an unlikely strategy for a GOP presidential candidate, but it may be the populist Roemer’s best shot at having a media moment in the 2012 race.

Mitt Romney IS Wall Street but he need not believe “Occupy Wall Street” is dangerous

Monday, October 10th, 2011

I’m not big into “class warfare” as some call it, however, I do find it laughable that Romney thinks “Occupying Wall Street” is dangerous. Since when did exercising freedom of expression and mere protests become dangerous? Seems to me he is the dangerous one when he wants to suppress mere freedom of speech and when it is expressed. Romney should be concerned though…..after all….he is Mr. Bain Capital and he does know how to slash jobs to increase profit margins for investors.

The Christian Post understands the political risks 2012 GOP Candidates are taking with Hispanic vote

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

The Christian Post understands the political risks the GOP Presidential Candidates are considering when they are wanting to boycott UNIVISION over Senator Marco Rubio. Marco Rubio has fractured relationships between Cubans (consists of 3% of total Hispanic population) and the largest Hispanic ethnic group (those of Mexican descent accounting for almost 70% of Hispanic population).

From the Christian Post:

The candidates who are boycotting Univision are “committing Hispanic political suicide,” Blase said. “Univision is the number-one Spanish network in the nation,” and “the lifeline of Hispanic media.”

Blase said Somos Republicans was already upset with Rubio for saying that he does not support “amnesty” for illegal immigrants, because, as a Cuban-American, his family has already benefited from an amnesty-like government program.

Republican candidates who support the boycott, “are trying to appease the Cuban-American population” at the expense of the rest of the Latino community, Blase said.

“Do they want to go after the 3 percent (Cuban-American population, prominent in Florida) or do they want to go after the 70 to 75 percent (Mexican-American population, prominent in the Southwest)? That is what I see taking place with their moronic move, fighting Univision,” Blase said.

GOP Presidential Candidate Boycott a Latino Political Suicide for 2012 Presidential Elections

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Republican Presidential candidates are committing political suicide with Latino voters in the entire southwest.  Asking UNIVISION to reverse exposing Sen. Marco Rubio’s hypocrisy would be like asking Cubanos in Florida to boycott the Cuban Adjustment Act.

The GOP Candidates are cutting off their noses to spite their faces with their ideas of boycotting UNIVISION because UNIVISION is the largest Spanish network in the country. All President Obama has to do is spend more money in marketing to the fastest and largest minority demographic in the nation via UNIVISION. GOPers are limiting themselves to a small Floridian portion as you take a look at the big picture and as you take a look at where most Hispanics reside. GOP Candidates are risking the entire southwest for the one state of Florida even though most of the Latin growth comes from the southwest – not Florida.

GOP candidates cannot appease the TEA PARTY and Latinos at the same time, particularly when many within the Tea Party (such as Sen. Marco Rubio) have supported harsh anti-immigrant laws. The only way out of this toxic mess is for Republicans to address the broken immigration system with a free market solution in which they claim to stand for. This further demonstrates to me how fearful all GOP Presidential candidates are of the immigration issue except for the former New Mexico Governor – Gary Johnson.

GOP Candidates must learn that Rubio created a wedge between Cuban and Mexican relations when he supported Arizona’s harsh law and voiced against the DREAM Act. Rubio has been disingenuous in claiming he is against “amnesty” while his own Floridian and Cuban immigrants have benefitted from Cuban amnesty as well as tax payer government funded benefits once their foot touches dry American soil.

Those of Mexican descent are not asking for government benefits, they are simply asking for a reasonable solution to the broken immigration system.

Jeff Flake and Mitt Romney both support Cuban Amnesty under Cuban Adjustment Act

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Jeff Flake and Mitt Romney both support Cuban Amnesty under Cuban Adjustment Act, but why did Congressman Jeff Flake introduce and vote an amendment  to  deny the Bush administration funds to enforce the travel ban.  Furthermore, why is Jeff Flake encouraging this when Cuban immigrants receive government benefits and privileged amnesty only to go back on extended vacation?  Why is Flake encouraging immigrants to go back with extended vacations in Cuba that they are fleeing from?  Why are tax paying dollars being utilized in helping Cuban immigrants extend their vacation in Cuba.

Cuban immigrants come to the United States to flee the corruption of Fidel Castro.  Jeff Flake has no business encouraging the opposite.

Furthermore, we are sick and tired of politicians like Jeff Flake and Mitt Romney who support amnesty for Cubans but do not want to help fix the broken immigration system.  FACT CHECK for Mr. Romney and Mr. Flake to understand:  Of the total Hispanic population, those of Mexican descent make up almost 70% of the total Latino population.  By Romney and Flake supporting Cuban amnesty ticks us off further when they ignore the largest segment of the Latin population pie — Mexican Americans.

What is worse is Jeff Flake lives in the southwest — not Florida.  Jeff Flake forgot that those of Mexican descent will do what it takes for Wil Cardon to win the GOP primary elections because of his complete ignorance on Latin issues.

U.S. House passes amendments to ease Cuba embargo  9/9/2003 MSNBC: ”Lawmakers passed by a 227-188 vote an amendment introduced by Arizona Republican Jeff Flake to a larger Transportation and Treasury spending bill. The Flake amendment seeks to deny the Bush administration funds to enforce the travel ban, without formally lifting the ban itself. A similar amendment passed last year in the House by a broader 262-167 margin but was stymied in the Senate. Embargo opponents say the Senate is now more receptive to a lifting of the travel ban.”

Jeff Flake makes fatal mistake endorsing anti-immigrant Mitt Romney. Wil Cardon for Arizona Senate

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Jeff Flake is getting weaker and weaker, and has no resolve to stand up to the Tea Party extremists who advocate for government shut down and have so much as suggested to extend the debt crisis talks that roiled our financial markets globally.

Jeff Flake has been too long already as a politician.  It’s time for him to get out.  We are sick of career politicians.

Besides, Wil Cardon can create jobs.  He ‘gets it’.

Jeff Flake made a fatal error in endorsing Mitt Romney for GOP 2012 President.  Doesn’t Flake know that Romney wants to send ALL immigrants back?  How is Flake going to address all the empty homes that are being rented out to immigrants?  Is Flake going to give rental owners the money when immigrants flee?

What about the coffers that are no longer there due to Mitt Romney’s restrictionist and protectionist ideas?  Did Jeff Flake endorse Romney because both are members of the LDS community?  If so, then why didn’t Jeff Flake endorse Jon Huntsman who has a better job producing and economic Romney doesn’t hold a candle to?

Furthermore, how can Jeff Flake state he is against “Obamacare” when Mitt Romney produced “RomneyCare” in Massachusetts?  Jeff Flake is a hypocrite.
