Arizona alum Ricky Elmore finding new life in San Diegoby Christopher C. Wuensch on Aug. 18, 2012, under Sports
After a stellar college career, Ricky Elmore struggled in training camp with the Green Bay Packers, who eventually waived the University of Arizona alum.
In camp with the San Diego Chargers this summer, Elmore has rediscovered the beast mode that saw him wrack up 25.5 career sacks as a Wildcat.
The linebacker rung up a sack on Saturday and forced a fumble in the Bolts’ 28-10 preseason win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The impressive showing comes a week after Elmore got redemption against the Pack, registering two tackles and forcing yet another fumble in the 21-13 Charger win.
Elmore now has two forced fumbles in the preseason, one shy of the amount he stripped in four seasons in Tucson.
There are still two weeks left to go in the preseason and anything can happen. But Elmore seems to be doing whatever it takes to avoid having to stand in line at the unemployment office this fall.
