Ticor revenues jump 31% in 1st quarter over 2005′s
First quarter 2006 revenues for Ticor Title increased more than 31 percent compared with the previous year. Ticor Title holds a 10 percent market share, up from 3.25 percent in 2002. The firm serves the commercial, residential and luxury markets.
NAWBO’s contributions to work force honored
The National Association of Women Business Owners received an award of excellence from the Workforce Readiness Action Team of The Pima County Business and Education Roundtable.
The Award recognized NAWBO for its work and coordination of Women Empowering Employment event and the partnership with Pima Community College to support workplace programs that contribute to work force development.
Golden Eagle Distributors joins Tucson Originals
Golden Eagle Distributors has become an associate member of The Tucson Originals. The group’s membership now totals 45 and includes 37 locally owned restaurants and eight associate members.
KB opens model homes on East, Northwest sides
KB Home has opened models at the communities of Liberty Village on the East Side and Mariposa Trail on Tucson’s Northwest Side.
Liberty Village, at Golf Links and Pantano, features 92 lots with four two-story floor plans ranging from 1,298 to 1,608 square feet and two to four bedrooms. Prices start around $190,000.
Mariposa Trail, on Shannon Road just north of River Road offers six floor plans ranging from 1,231 to 2,311 square feet. Prices start around $220K for the two- to four-bedroom homes.
Live auctions on Euclid third Saturday monthly
Sierra Auctions has opened a live auction site at 1702 S. Euclid Ave. The firm, with headquarters in Phoenix, has been operating for 20 years.
Auctions will be held the third Saturday of every month. The facility includes a 3-acre yard and 15,000 square feet of building space. The firm receives surplus property from more than 80 government agencies including Maricopa, Yavapai and Pinal counties; Casa Grande and Phoenix; community colleges and school districts throughout the state; the Arizona Attorney General’s Office; Arizona Department of Public Service; Salt River Project; and the U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee Program.
3 Help-U-Sell offices here hit century mark in sales
Three Tucson-area Help-U-Sell offices received recognition at the the 2005 Help-U-Sell Awards for closing 100 or more units.
The Help-U-Sell Rich Realty office received the Pinnacle Offices Award and was ranked third in the nation out of 900 offices. Help-U-Sell Southeast Rita Ranch was ranked 17th and Help-U-Sell Tucson Valley Realty, 63rd.
Arizona garnered the most awards of any region.
Clear Channel-Citadel have local traffic covered
A deal between Clear Channel’s Total Traffic Network, a division of Clear Channel Radio, and Citadel Broadcasting will provide complete traffic coverage on 11 Tucson radio stations for two years.
The Total Traffic Network in Tucson was previously comprised of the seven Clear Channel Radio properties: KRQQ 93.7FM, KWMT 92.9FM, KOHT 98.3FM, KNST 790AM, KWFM 1450AM, KXEW 1600AM and KTZR 97.1FM. The added Citadel stations include KIIM 99.5FM, KHYT 107.5FM, KCUB 1290AM and KTUC 1400AM. The new, larger network commands a weekly listener reach of more than 62 percent of all Tucson adults 18 and older.
Wells Fargo adds branch in Golder Ranch market
Wells Fargo opened a new Community Banking site inside Bashas’ at 15310 N. Oracle Road in Golder Ranch.
Cox 32nd for diversity; 34% Latino, 7% black
Cox Communications ranks 32nd on DiversityInc’s list of top 50 companies for diversity in their work force. Cox also ranked No. 3 on the list for its representation of African-American employees.
DiversityInc is in its sixth year of ranking the nation’s businesses on their commitment to diversity in the workplace. A total of 256 companies competed for a spot on the highly coveted list: This is the first year Cox Communications has applied.

Arizona Car Care adding Oro Valley, Catalina sites
Arizona Car Care Centers will open two locations in Oro Valley and Catalina, bringing the total in the area to five.
The Oro Valley store is scheduled to open in July at 635 E. Vuelta Caminata Del Rio in the Mercado del Rio Center. The Catalina site should open in the fall at 16415 N. Oracle Road.

SOREO Home Support moves to Country Club
Tucson-based SOREO In Home Support Services LLC has relocated its administrative offices to 1632 N. Country Club Road.
SOREO, founded in 2000, provided individualized assistance to older adults and others with special needs. Services include: respite, personal care, housekeeping, shopping and meal preparation. SOREO employs more than 160 individuals who serve 650 families.
TAR largest trade group in southern Arizona
The Tucson Association of Realtors had a record increase in membership numbers in 2005.
As of March, the TAR represents more than 6,200 active members in the real estate industry, making it the largest trade association in southern Arizona. Nearly 1,500 joined in 2005.
The Tucson Association of Realtors Multiple Listing Service has also seen a jump in membership numbers. Like the Association, more members joined the MLS last year than in 2001 and 2002 combined.
Advertising Federation gets 2 national honors
The Tucson Advertising Federation received special recognition with two awards in the American Advertising Federation’s National Club Achievement Competition. The Tucson group received first place in the club management category and third in membership.
A6 selected to organize GemFair travel, housing
A6 Consultants LLC, an event management company, was selected by the American Gem Trade Association to be the housing and travel partner for the annual AGTA GemFair Tucson. Next year’s event will be held Jan. 31-Feb. 5. The annual show attracts thousands of gemstone buyers from around the world.
A6 will work with Tucson area hotels and resorts in booking about 6,000 room nights for the event.

Canyon Ranch resort expanding to Chicago
Canyon Ranch Health & Fitness Resort is going urban in Chicago.
The Tucson-based resort and spa and Chicago’s LR Development Co. are joining to create luxury condominiums, a hotel and a combination spa and wellness center in a 67-story tower overlooking the city’s Magnificent Mile.
Canyon Ranch Living – Chicago will be the first urban application of Canyon Ranch’s hotel-residence-wellness center concept.
The high-rise will include 256 residential condominiums, 128 hotel condos, a world-class 65,000-square-foot health and wellness center, a gourmet restaurant featuring fresh healthful food, and parking.
