Border Patrol rescues 5, including 4-year-old girl

U.S. Border Patrol agents say they rescued five illegal immigrants from the desert after the group became stranded and called 911.

The 911 call came from a man who said he, his wife and his 4-year-old daughter were lost in the hills north of Andrade, just across the California border from Yuma. He said they had left two other people behind in the desert after they became too tired to keep going.

Agents and a helicopter were sent to find the five people and the family was found at about 7 p.m. Tuesday. The other two people were found about three hours later.

All were brought to the Border Patrol’s Yuma office and will be sent back to their home countries.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
