Fifth-grader Celeste Vasquez created the winning entry in Davis-Monthan Air Force Base’s 2008 child abuse prevention poster contest.
She attends Borman Elementary School, a Tucson Unified School District school on the Air Force base.
Thirty posters were submitted. They were judged by D-M airmen.
Vasquez’s poster says: “Even though we’re a big world, we should all come together and take a stand. Kids shouldn’t be afraid to go home.”
The poster will be used during the base’s fifth annual child abuse prevention campaign in April, which is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The poster will be reproduced and displayed around the base.
D-M’s family advocacy outreach manager, Marley Smith, urged families dealing with stress to use services available to them “before a situation escalates into violence or child abuse.”
