Arizona Opera offers show geared to kids

Free, open to public

Arizona Opera will present a one-hour version of Donizetti’s comic opera “The Elixir of Love” specially tailored to children at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the Fox Theatre, 17 W. Congress St.

The performance is free and open to the public.

It is part of Arizona Opera Week, a collaboration with the opera company, Tucson Unified School District, the Fox and the Tucson Children’s Museum.

During this week, Arizona Opera’s School tour program has also staged “The Elixir” at Maxwell Middle School, 2802 W. Anklam Road; Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School, 1436 N. Campbell Ave.; St. Ambrose Catholic School, 300 S. Tucson Blvd.; and Wakefield Middle School, 101 W. 44th St.

The activities end Sunday with Opera in the Box at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. at the Tucson Children’s Museum, 200 S. Sixth Ave. Kids will create their own opera scenes under the tutelage of an Arizona Opera teaching artist.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
