Downtown revitalization efforts received a major boost Monday when Madden Media agreed to buy the city-owned MacArthur Building.
The sale of the $1.7 million historic building had stalled over parking issues. But with the work of Councilwoman Nina Trasoff and Glenn Lyons, chief executive officer of the Downtown Tucson Partnership, a resolution was reached.
Madden, a Tucson-grown business, has a major national profile. It produces visitor guides, newspaper inserts and online marketing campaigns in 37 states.
Founder and CEO Kevin Madden was enthusiastic about the move, calling downtown “a place our creative work force will appreciate.”
Madden’s rehabilitation and use of a key historic property and addition of 80 people to downtown’s work force both are significant positives.
