PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Public Safety is launching a major crackdown on speeders a day before the Thanksgiving holiday.

DPS says it will deploy 42 mobile photo enforcement units along Interstate 10 and Interstate 40.

The photo vans will be placed every 20 miles along the designated interstates from border to border in an effort to slow drivers down.

DPS says the mobile photo enforcement units will be in operation from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

The mobile photo enforcement units will supplement the efforts of DPS officers on the road that will be looking for drivers who are impaired, aggressive or tired.

Officers will also be enforcing safety belt laws and doing their own speed enforcement.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
