David Hasselhoff
LAS VEGAS – Arizona’s most famous fan is going to sing the national anthem at the Las Vegas Bowl.
That would be actor and worldwide celebrity (as strange as that sounds) David Hasselhoff, who was seen twice at Arizona Stadium this season. He created a buzz when he popped up in the Zona Zoo student section for the season opener against Idaho, recording the mob scene on his cell phone and uploading the video to his web site.
The video then made ESPN’s SportsCenter.
A little extra publicity can’t hurt the Wildcats, who can do more good by beating BYU on Saturday in front of a national ESPN audience.
The Hoff’s daughter Taylor-Ann is a freshman at UA, which explains why he suddenly is interested in college football and specifically Arizona. He also attended the home game against Washington.
As for Hoff’s singing, a press release claims he has more than 40 gold and platinum records worldwide. There couldn’t have been a shortage of would-be anthem singers for Saturday; maybe the Hoff’s appearance is a good sign. The Cats haven’t lost when he’s been in attendance.
