Catherine Gersey struck on East Pima Street
Police are looking for a driver who left the scene after a 56-year-old Tucson woman was struck by an SUV while crossing East Pima Street and died Sunday.
Catherine Gersey of Tucson may have been staying with a friend near where she was struck, Sgt. Mark Robinson said.
She was in a crosswalk in the 6100 block of East Pima, at North Rook Avenue, when she was hit about 5:50 p.m, police said.
Witnesses told police the woman was struck by a dark-colored sport utility vehicle, whose driver slowed and then sped away, Robinson said. The SUV may have windshield and hood damage.
Robinson, a police spokesman, said Gersey was heading north when she was hit while in the westbound curb lane.
