University Medical Center discharged a healthy female newborn Wednesday who was left at the hospital over the weekend under the state’s Safe Haven law, said Katie Riley, a spokeswoman for the hospital.
It allows an individual to abandon a newborn, no questions asked, at fire stations, local hospitals and certain other locations without penalty.
The mother of the child is not required to provide information about the baby and can remain anonymous.
The baby is the seventh the hospital has received since 2001, Riley said.
No details about the infant or to whom she was released were provided by the hospital.
